I was watching my little brother read a book called "Five True Dog Stories" by:Margaret Davidson, and I noticed the story about how Balto saved Nome. When saw that it said he was half Eskimo dog i just had to find out what it looked like, and i did. It is accually called a Canadian Eskimo Dog.
Here are some pics:

Heres a little info on wikipedia.

heres some pictures of a Canadian Eskimo Dog Team

It says that they are built more muscularly, and related to the Greenland Dog, Siberian Husky and Alaskan Malamute. Im not sure if this is accurate, but I thought it was weird that it said he was half Eskimo Dog, half Wolf.

Balto was never part Eskimo dog. Just a husky.

Quote: Balto was pure husky with pedigree,no doubt about it. Balto certainly looks like a purebreed to me.
