Do you guys like to talk about "the good old days" and stuff like that? I sure do, even though I'm only 18.

I first rented this movie in the fall of 1996, so I was 7 years old. I had been a bit interested in the movie when I saw the movie trailers for it the past year. We went to the local rental store to get a movie, and I picked out Balto. When we got home, I sat in the recliner and watched it on our old wooden TV, right in the very room I'm in now.

Putting the tape in, I didn't know I was about to watch an instant classic. Usually when I rent a movie, I watch about half, get bored, then finish later or the next day. This one, however, I watched all the way through in one sitting. The movie was absolutely phenomenal. This was a while after dinner I believe.

The next day, around the same time as the previous day, I sat and watched through it again, just as intently as I had the first time, all the way through. I remember my dad saying, "She was Rosie!" after Grandma Rosie's last line. I had noticed it the first time, but was still uncertain about her being the child Rosie.

I didn't watch through the credits either time. Not just until this year did I do that.

Back then, I was too young to notice the great animation and the amazing soundtrack. You don't notice stuff like that as a child, although it does affect your experience unconsciously. You notice it when you watch it so many years later, but you don't enjoy the movie as much as you did the very first time.

All I can say is that I regret not knowing this movie existed when I was young but I have their advertising to blame for that ;)

Although I always wonder if I saw it back in 95' would I be into it the way I am now, it would have defeinetly been my fave movie back then but as a kid I might have just moved on and not gotten into the community aspect of Balto like this forum so in a way I am glad I've seen it recently, definetly been able to appreciate it more :D

I was 4 when I saw it in cinemas. I loved it.
When it came out of video, I remember my mum said she'd buy it for me... but she obviously didn't XD cuz, I got the video when I was 8 for about £5. I rediscovered the movie when I was 8 when it came on TV one chistmas. I missed the first half of the movie - I started watching when Balto and Jenna went under the hospital.

Then, I when I was 11, I was looking round a DVD shop, when I saw a Balto DVD. Only it was a weird DVD, it looked really cheap and there was another dog I didnt reconise standing next to Balto. Which turned out to be Alue. XD I didn't know it was a sequal, the cover art was so bad I thought it was some cheaply made movie based on the Balto true story.

memorrriessssss. <3

haha, my first memory was when it first came out on VHS. (I didn't see in theaters and I regret that!), I was about..mmm 6 or 7? We would go up to Lake Geneva once a year after school let out for a weekend. The 'A' place, or the resort had VHS rental machine and of course, my sister and I picked Balto.
It was phenominal, and every single year until I was about 10 or 11, I would only see it once a year up at the 'A' place. I distinctly remember looking outside and seeing the full moon when Balto was fighting Steele.

There was so much in my life happening at the time I first saw it that I don't remember much.

I just recently rediscovered it last month. A friend and I were on a trip to see my relatives and they had an extensive movie collection. We watched everything from "Oliver and Company" to "All Dogs go to Heaven."

Of course, when we popped in Balto, the nostalgia hit me like a punch to the face. It was a great watch and as soon as we finished we went for Balto 2. Neither of us knew Balto had a sequel. It wasn't until ten minutes in when we hit the eject button in horror. We didn't want to destroy our fond memories of Balto.

It was either in '95 or '96. My mom and I were in the video store in our grocery store, and she saw the movie and sugested that we rent it. I wanted to see it, so i said yeah. When we got home, she started reading the back of the box and was like "Oh, there's a dog named Jenna in this movie!" (Jenna is my real name) and i was like wow cool. So i watched the movie and...fell in love!

Had to have been '96 then. It didn't come out on video until '96.

Wow, you must have some pretty fond memories! Do you still watch it?

If you'd have liked it as much back then as you do now, you'd have rediscovered it. I rented it back in '96 and didn't truly get into it again until last May, which was 10 1/2 years.

Claymore - You don't seem to be that big of a fan. I recommend you watch the movie again BTW... you seem to have misinterpreted something about the movie.

I saw it in december 1995 in the theater, I must have been about four. I loved it from day one. I remember how excited I was when my grandma bought the vhs for me for X-Mas 1996.
