Is the series any good? I've heard of it but before I watch it I want to know how good it is. I've heard its about a book that can kill when someone who can control the book or something like that.

Very good thriller anime but of course it's not to everyone's taste.

Honestly, I think it is one of the best anime series out there, and it is my personal favorite. It depends on your taste whether or not you will like it, but I really enjoy it. What you've heard is pretty much correct. The "Death Note" is a notebook that, when a person's name is written inside, they will die. The show itself is about a boy named Light Yagami who finds it and puts it to use. There is more than that to know, but I don't want to spoil it.

I think you should watch an episode or two and see if it captures your interest. Once I started watching it, I was hooked!

Seen it but don't have any intentions to read, the plot's great but I can't stand how the characters are drawn, especially the protagonist, he scares me when I look at him fur too long.... freaking scary but Death Note the film made me changed my mind, guess I'll read it...someday
