Lately, I've been thinking. I don't think we have enough fanart mods. And as far as I know, out of the five, only two or three are active. I mean, we have only Five Fanart Mods, what if that isn't enough?

I've seen one "artist" on this site who has stolen one of my favorite artist's work (the poses, the be exact) without citation to her. Well, when I did this, my gallery was deleted. I reported one image out of the several over three months ago, and ho-dog, the image is still there! I just now decided, that, after seeing more stolen poses, to e-mail the artist.

It's kind of disappointing, if you ask me. Most of the mods don't do their job, or, do their job incorrectly (we all know about that petetion questioning some moderators). Why not appoint someone who we all know will help in any way possible, someone who is online a lot?

Truth given, I would love to become a mod. Not only because of the priviledges, but also because I would have an honor. The mods represent a website, if you ask me. Shouldn't we have good mods, ones that know their duties and can explain things the best way possible, as long as they know them?

Don't take me wrong, please no. The fanart mods we have are wonderful people. But, I don't think five moderators are enough for the five thousand some odd members we have. I don't even want to start thinking of how many art galleries there are.

I administor about six of my own sites, and I choose my moderators carefully. Exspecially for my New Site, which is official for my "Productions Unit".

I know this site has tight rules and all, and I respect Steet for what all he has done. Shoot, if he hadn't created this site, and if I hadn't found it, I would have never made as many [online] friends as what I have now, nor posted my art and improved so wonderfully.

But, I just don't think, nor feel, that five fanart moderators is enough... Overall, it comes down to Steet's decision, and I will respect that no matter what it is.

[EDIT]
There are SIX fan art mods, Snowboarder Doby wasn't listed and I was unaware that she was a FA mod. [/EDIT]

I don't think the amount of fanart mods is the real issue, its more along the lines of who's more available to do their job (which was mentioned) steet does have alot of moderators, but only a small handful are active and even they can't be on all the time. He just needs more people to be a mod to be a mod and less people to be a mod just for their own benefits.

And that stolen art thing is an issue and I personally think has always been. When I was a fanart mod, I often found myself doing the work of deleting stolen artwork and getting "penalized" for it because I seemed to be the only one doing it (whenever Drew wasn't around)

Now there are active fanart moderators who would love to help with stolen artwork issues (like Drew or Draco) but the "report" button tends to send reports to moderators who aren't online when they're needed (which is indeed logical since steet has more nonactive mods than active ones, if not than its an equal amount, which isn't necessarily healthy for such a highly-populated fansite) and so the ones who ARE online aren't getting the message until the reporter tells them personally.

How to solve the issue? Appoint more RESPONSIBLE people as fanart mods. Quite elementary if you ask me.

There's a whole other issue with the display pictures of the fanart section, but I think that issue can be solved easier than this one (plus its rather off topic)

your right karada, the site is growing rapidly, have you reported this to steet? remember that many people are not fit to be a mod, so it is not an easy thing to do, looking for people to become them is great but steet will see to this as soon as he sees this im sure.

No, no I haven't. I figured I'd save the poor guy some PM space, but, I'm sure he's going to see it, he looks in this section a lot from what I can tell.

Cat --> I'm not sure who I reported it to, but I'd reported it. But the point of this is, Warrior caught it. The site is growing, and more and more people are stealing art. And with six art mods, there isn't a lot that can be done with thousands of members/galleries (I never bothered counting them). Let alone the amount of pictures sent in.

I say, maybe tops two more fanart mods and I will be content. It just makes more sense to me. More members, gain a couple of moderators. Now, I also put thought into Fan Fic mods, as well.

The fics don't get uploaded often enough, if you ask me, and I'm kinda ere of people complaining about "my fic isn't uploaded yet".

But, the site is growing, and gaining more kids/teens/adults the like. But, fanart is my main concern.

I'm paranoid, and I expect someone to steal my art. I mean, why wouldn't they? Livy's has been, Night's has been, Cat's has been, and so on.

I just think that with a couple more mods, the area will be a little more covered. True, they won't be online all the time. But, possibly a mod who will be on when others aren't? I know Draco is on every few days; along with Drew. So what about the in-between? I mean, if it's a "dire emergency" and the person can't help but to drag on a mod, shouldn't there be a couple more tops to handle it.

If people could worm into my measely little head, I'm sure you'd understnad. But, I can only explain it the best I can.

More Fan Art Mods:
-Faster updates for impatient/anxious people
-More "guards" for art theft
-More people to help members with art issues.

Those are just a few of the more important points I'm trying to make.

Mhm, Drew and Draco update the most and Doby and Skotta update quite a lot too but I haven't seen Bagel or Bluestef update in a long while.

I guess maybe 1 or 2 more FA mods might be a help, I know poor Drew has tons to do so the help woul probably be appreciated. XDD

Well, I have a few things to say. First, asking to be a mod is against the site rules - but I'll pass on this one because it's not just that.
The problem is that theses fanart mods were active when they begun working, but after some months, many of them aren't doing their job (for multiple reasons), but that's pretty normal and logical.
I think the main problem is not so much the number of mods, but that the report you did got sent to a mod that probably isn't active.
I'll study this, but one way to correct this would be to make a common place for the mods for reports : every mod could see them, so that any of them could correct the problems issued by the members. The newest version of the phpbb forums allow this, maybe I'll add something like this on the site too.
But the mods alone can't and will never be able to check EVERY gallery to prevent art theft. Especially because of the number of drawings and that for detecting art theft, you need to know many many artists, some who aren't even posting on this site...

I'm usually on everyday actually, and always try and pay close attention to art when i'm uploading. But with all the artists on the site, with different styles, it's hard to keep up with everything, and sometimes stolen art *will* get uploaded. I've spent alot of time going through galleries to make sure there aren't any stolen pictures.

But that's where you all need to tell us so it can be fixed. The last few days I wasnt here, was on vacation, but until college starts up in August, I'll pretty much be on the site everyday, so you can pm me, or sometimes I'll be on the shout box if you need me.

-_-

Everyone's taken it out of context. I was not asking to be a mod, and, not only did I make this suggestion because of the theft, but also because of the growing site. I seem to focus on the "Balto Area" of the site, I rarely visit the "Lion King Area". I won't even touch that.

No, I just said, that like any member, it would be great to be a mod. Let alone, someone said to me (he's a member here but this was another website), "You would make a great fanart mod!".

And with the other "more mods" topic, that one seemed to have been thought up in moments. This is something I've been thinking about for quite some time, not just a couple of days or less.

Draco, thank you for offering help. I'll PM you with the links to the stolen pictures and the original artist's DA gallery, where I am sure the originals are. Though, since I can't get on DeviantArt where I am, the best I can do is the link to her gallery...

I agree aswell. There needs to be more fanart mods and I check every day for, gallery entrance picture requests(There hasen't been any.)(updateing is beond my control. It's not my busniss.) But, there are bucket loads of art that are waiting to be uploaded. There was close to twenty gallerys today.
I FELT LIKE FILLING IT OUT.

1. I keep the fanart window open the whole time I'm online.(often refresh.)
2. When I look at fanart(for some reason I allways look for their style and poses.)
3.I'm a artist and I have good suggetions.
