Now this has been bugging me since forever! Now I know that names can't be copyrighted, whether thats your REAL name or CHAR name...BUT....

Recently I've seen a lot of user names that annoy me. There are a lot of FAKE *someone* whether it's Fake *Mod name* Fake **username** It's annoying. You're not the only one to think of a name, but if you know there is somebody with the same as you...then thats too bad. Can't people think up another name without needing to use that name with fake in it.

Second of all
Some people have changed there names during their time on BS. I've seen people that have waited till they change their name, and taken the other persons old name! It's confussing and unneccessary!
How do you feel about this?

I would think if someone takes someone else's old name would be a little confusing to others. EX

User: Bob joe
Friend of his: kat kid

Just say Bob Joe changes his name to Cool Kid. Some one else that he knows wants his old user, so he gives it to him. Now Kat Kid wants to PM and/or talk to Bob Joe, and doesn't know he changes his name. ( That ofcoarse if you don't tell them you changed it. ) Then the other person would accually get the PM and/or message, instead of his real friend.

Truley, I don't know how it woulf really work out. But I reccomend it not be a good idea.

Ah, yes I saw that happen before my own eyes, though I didn't want to say anything.


Quite comfussing, Like what would happen if it was real.

Trust me, I've been there. They've used my name and names almost exact to my name. This is an issue with me because my name is my name and its so unique that if someone else tries to use it, its VERY obvious. There have been:

And probably a buttload more. Most of them were trying to impersonate me and others were supposed "fans" of mine. People have asked me WHY its a problem with me and its because some people are dumb enough to think one of those people are actually me and they can get away with it. To think the problem would be obvious is too much to ask for apparently.

I mean, all of these people have been taken care of and were either banned for impersonation or changed their names, but still, why can't people just use a different name? Its fine if its something like 9TailedFox or WolfWith2Tails or anything like that, but people can't seem to let go of the amount of tails that is equivalent to mine -_- What's so special about the number 14?

I know why I chose my name: I chose my name because I read the book "The Cat Who Had 14 Tales" and based it off that. I based alot of my old usernames on books I've read and people have been asked "How did you come up with the name DogWhoHas14Tails?" and they respond with something dumb like "coz i lookd @ muh dogz tale an their wur 14 peaces ov dogphude on teh flor" and that just ruins everything for me XD

I mean, it's a whole other story if they use, say the word "krazy" or "dark" or "shadow" in their name because names with those words in it are very common and can't be helped. Its the more creative ones that are being copied that are bugging me.

People aren't creative, so they use other peoples' names thinking they will be as creative if they do so. It doesn't work that way. People need to find names that suit themSELVES and they don't know it, but they can use ANYTHING they wanted, they just refuse to see it

I can see your point(s) here. Truth given, names cannot be copyrighted. But; Identity Theft can be a federal crime (in this case, it is over-obsessive fans and the law will do, most likely, nothing about it. *Pff* Like they can, it IS after all, the internet).

There is someone content on the site with the name "kirada_is_my_chara", and s/he walked around for some time saying my character and my ideas were its (I haven't seen this person in, oh, forever?).

People don't realize that, if you are more creative than they are, they will try to turn the tables and make the originator the "thief" and them the "originator". As Cat said, with her name.

But, there was one person with the name "~shadowcraft~", which was "Shadowcraft~Werewolf's" original name when I first met him. This person pulled the popular card of "my sibling deleted my old account, this has been my name forever!" and tried to force the original Shadowcraft to change his name (but, he agreed to avoid the stress of the situation). Since I've been on the site, I have changed my name once (that I can remember) to "Your Favorite Nightmare", and then I changed it back to "Kirada" as soon as I had the chance because I got weary of explaining my identity. So, there's that. o_o

But, people need to understand that it could be envy. These are lazy kids, and they don't seem to understand that their name(s) can be that of their own character, their fursona, or a tweaked version of their name. Like Olivia did, her screen name is "[[LivyLou]]". They need to understand that it doesn't take years to develop a name.

no way, its confusing so i said no. for all you know, that person with the copywrited namechanges theres and some new member takes it, the person who had the name in the first place might have not told anyone so there you are thinking your talking to the person who originally had the name when your really talking to somebody totally different.

No need to be sorry Cat, I'm not surpried after that. If somone is a "fan" Can't they just say in there profile or somthing? I think 99% of those people where just trying to impersonate you because of your popularity (sp?) There is no possible way to get away with trying to use Catwhohas14tails e.c.t as a name. Half of those examples you made, it took me a while to see the exact difference.

Yeah this is annoying. When on my last day on being Lost Legacy somebody joined with my old username I was going to change back to. They don't even come on anymore! At first some people were pming them thinking I changed back. It's confusing!

I read this as 'Impersonhaters' at first XDD.

Yes, this is really annoying and stupid. I've been accused of stealing my name from Cat's character 'Cobalt' (son of Anna & Steele) and the character too (since Cobalt is Steele's daughter). The only reason I chose it was because of cobalt blue and steele blue, really ;P. I mean, seriously, it's ridiculous, the two look totally different, my Cobalt's all black, and Cat's Cobalt's black and blonde. But that's getting off the point.

It's annoying because it's confusing, simple. I've had my name copied on many forums. I've had the name MiloticMistress on one for about two years there now and someone made theirs MiloticMaster. Oh dear. I didn't confront them as I decided to let it slip, but it's irritating since it took a while to think of that.

I hear what you're saying,when I had the name Sarabi Fan,someone from the United Kingdom,also took the name sarabi fan,so when it came time for another name change,I thought of the reply that Sarabi says to Simba about the Elephant Graveyard = So,where is this really cool place,hence the name Sarabi The Cool,but then I started to realize,was I really being fair to Spirit The Cat,yep,Spirit had the initials STC first.so I thought of the very first username I first had,and so I believe I'll remain with Sarabi/Balto.
