Well, it seems even since the release of the Xbox 360, the system has not been a very reliable one. There are many known errors with it, such as the Red Ring of Death, otherwise known as RRoD. Also, some consoles tend to freeze very frequently, regardless of overheating, regardless of the game. It just does not seem right that people must pay $400 for such unreliability in a system. Recently, Microsoft has issued a 3-year warranty on all Xbox 360 consoles sold before a certain date. The newspaper stated that Microsoft wanted to stay competitive with the other systems, and defective consoles would not help. It irritates me that this may be the only reason they are issuing the warranty. I don't think they are out to help and please their customers, but rather to keep in the competition. Additionally, Xbox 360 owners could purchase a 2-year warranty. Well Microsoft, I hope you refund their money.
All that aside, I have problems with my 360. I got it from my brother, who had taken his first back. Thankfully, I do not have the Red Ring of Death, but I do have trouble with the console freezing very frequently. I am debating whether I should simply demand a refund or get a new console. To say I am displeased with the Xbox 360 is an understatement.
Any thoughts on this issue?
Here are a couple sources in which I received this information, keeping in mind some of it was personal experience as well.
