OK we have all heard about oilslicks and how they kill so many birds and mammals.
But what about 'solid' Pollution, what dose that do?
One of the worst of these are lost and abandoned fishing nets, sea mammals, turtles and sea birds can get entangled in them and drown.
Fishing line is probably just as bad and also catches seabirds on land.
Young Animals can get caught in six-pack holders and the rings off plastic bottle necks etc then they grow and are slowly throttled or squeezed to death. (fishing net and line can also cause this)
Then there are plastic bags and other polythene products, turtles mistaken them for their prey, Jellyfish and choke to death. I have seen this for real, we went to a beach from our yacht one day while cursing the Caribbean. A Young hawksbill turtle was washed up on the beach with a plastic bag hanging out of its mouth. doubt that the poor creature ever had a chance to breed.

.
Plastic and glass containers can be a hazard to animals on beaches, animals can fall into them and become trapped, starving to death(I have also seen this, on an island near where i found the turtle.
However, it isn't all bad complete glass jars and bottles
can become homes for crabs and other animals.
So-please make sure these products are correctly disposed of, remove any you find on beaches. also cut up items such as fishing line and six-pack holders just to make doubly sure.
