Dear all

this is my version of 'the wolves of Combe martin' By UK Wolf

Have you seen The Wolfman/A man Among Wolves?

So what do you think of this man who gave up his him, comforts, and even his family to raise 3 abandoned captive wolf cubs to raise them as wolves? Personally i think he is an amazing man. innocentgrin.gif
Have you seen his TV prog?

Sorry this is a long post but there is some interesting stuff in it!

I too have been to see the wolves; we are temporarily living in Combe Martin.

I went to a very interesting wolf talk where we were told about these fascinating creatures and got to watch them find eggs hidden in ‘nests’ of straw.
A couple of interesting facts:
1.There are no confirmed wolf-attacks on humans.
2.Wolves try to avoid conflict between other packs and other pack members, they howl to avoid entering other wolve’s territories as well as territory marking with urine and droppings.
As for within the pack they use howls growls and other noises as well as body gestures and facial expressions.

I also went to a wolf “howl–In” at dusk we used the howl types used to keep packs apart, each pack member has a different howl (and some other noises for mid-ranking wolves). Shaun told/showed us how to howl then we were each given a different rank howl and told about these.
We then went down and howled- and the wolves answered, it was a wonderful experience.
After howling we went down to meet the wolves and actually touched them (through the cage! Their fur is very soft.

Shaun is an amazing man and I admire him, I loved his TV program and the cute cubs especially Tamaska! Love.gif
I now do voluntary work at the wildlife park and have met Shaun several times. He has been clean and tidy when I have met him and doesn’t smell wolfish!
Shaun is a very nice man and my new hero (I also have a crush on him! Love.gif ) however he has a new girlfriend so my crush is just a dream!

Shaun has written two books The Wolf Talk (ISBN 189905703-X) and Spirit of the Wolf (I could not find the latter on Amazon nor do I have its ISBN sorry)
I have The Wolf talk and recommend this very interesting book.

I do however have a question, I saw the BBC TV program(The Wolfman), and also the trailers for the National Geographic one, (A Man Among Wolves), there were parts in the national Geographic trailers that weren’t in the BBC program. Was this any different or was it just edited from the trailers?

Bye

Sheba

Hmm Deja-vu, I feel the way as I stated on the other topic about this program/guy I think he's doing some very cool things, an approach that no other scientist has gotten into. His idea of protecting farmers animals by using recorded wolf howls is a sound idea and worked for the Polish farmer, if they could repeat the same study on 50 or so other farms with positive results it would be great!

In my opinion I think the Polish Government should offer subsidies to cattle or sheep killed by wolves. e.g if a cow is killed and would would have got around £50 overall from being sold then the Government should pay farmers the maximum amount of profit that would have been made if the animal hadn't been killed

I've met Shaun a lot too, it was quite funny coz I got there and went straight to the wolf place and we sat chatting for ages, he seemed surprised I was so into wolves, XD, next time I go I'm going to take some free prints for him to sell in the wolf "hut" to help out with the wolves and a set for him to keep.

He's kinda like my hero at the moment coz he let me HOLD TJ, a wolf pup, he was only a few weeks old when I saw him and the public wasn't really allowed to touch them coz they hadn't had their vaccinations but I went to watch him introduce them to Tamaska, Yana and Matsi and he let me hold him coz there was no-one around Love.gif .

I'll be going back there as soon as possible but I live a good few miles away, I'd volunteer too if I lived nearer.

I'm curious as to why you posted this after seeing the topic I already made though?
Surely you could've replied in that one.
