The Unicorn Chronicles by Bruce Coville is one of my favorite series of all time. It follows the story of a young girl named Cara in the land of Luster. This series is honestly what I think the best fantasy books there are. If you love unicorns, there's no way you won't be able to love these books. There were originally going to be three books :
Into the Land of the Unicorns,
Song of the Wanderer and
The Last Hunt. After making the third book way longer than expected, Bruce Coville decided to cut it in half, the new third book being called
Dark Whispers and the fourth and finale being called
The Last Hunt. So far, there are only two books out, the third one being expected to be out in April 2008.

Bruce Coville was born and raised in a rural area of Central New York, where he spent his youth dodging cows and chores, and dreaming about going to other planets. He now lives in an old brick house in Syracuse with his wife, illustrator Katherine Coville, and enough children and pets to keep life interesting. Though he has been a teacher, a toymaker, and a gravedigger, he prefers writing.
His writing for children was affected by his own early reading, which included lots of pulp fiction and comic books, but also had a healthy dose of myths and legends--a taste he first developed when one of his teachers read aloud the story of Odysseus.
He has been reading fantasy ever since, and has long dreamed of creating an epic series like THE UNICORN CHRONICLES.

Into The Land of Unicorns
As each bell chime sounds, Cara climbs faster up the steep bell tower. Eleven! She [i]must be ont eh roof when the next bell tolls. Twelve! With a deep breath, and only half believeing she will be safe, Cara jumps off the church roof and into Luster, land of the unicorns.
In Luster, Cara meets many wonderful creatures, but the most magnificent of all is Lightfoot, a rebellious young unicorn. Together with her new unicorn friend, a hairy creature named the Dimblethum, and the monkey-like Squijum, Cara sets out to reach the Unicorn Queen before the mysterious man following them does - and to prevent the descruction of all unicorns.[/i]
Song of the Wanderer
Cara must return to Earth to save her grandmother, the Wanderer. But to do so, Cara must first travel through the wilderness of Luster, land of the unicorns, and to the back of the dragon Ebillan's cave. Only there will she find the gate that can bring her back home.
As Cara embarks on the journey of her life, there is one person who stands in her way: Beloved, Cara's ancient ancestor, who has spent a lifetime dedicated to ridding the earth of unicorns. Is Cara strong enough to resist Beloved's ruthless magic and trickery?
