OK, so we had these stpuid project for my Geo class today and there was a presentation on the sinking of Venice. apprently, it's very bad, an inch a month it's sinking after the wells of WWII! Imagine that.... parts of it should already be underwater by 2050...including St. Mark's.
Scary, isn't it?
What do you all think can be done to help save this city from sinking into the canals it was built upon?

Quick everyone, grab buckets!!!
Let us pool our efforts into saving Venice. But seriously, it's like impossible to stop something that catastrophic ... not to mention it is just a wee bit difficult to lower the sea levels of the Mediterranean and surrounding bodies of water near Italy without damaging something else.

It's not impossible, just close to impossible. The guy who was presenting mentioned some way they think of stopping it, but I can't remember (curse this attention span of a spazzed-out goldfish.) I'll ask when I see him next.

That'll sink and it'll take centuries for a new land mass to form

What won't be underwater by 2050? That's still a long, long time... Somthing else'll probably have allready drowned Venice by then, along with most other costal areas around the globe.

It seems like a long time but I could probably still be alive then and it depends on you're age 2050 semms like a looong time for me but when I think about it its a short period Maybe if people stopped polluting it'd stop other coasts from sinking along with venice by then

Then just build on top of that one and if that sinks then build again and again and again till there is a solid foundation of Venice's to build on top of
