Calm down, man. I know that pitbulls aren't evil, although they are a somewhat 'dangerous' breed if you don't know how to handle them properly. Like was already said, we can't do anything to help the image of pitbulls. I like 'em too, but we can't really do anything.

I think by now, most of us who go on this forum all agree that Pitbulls are not born mean.
And how many simialr topics are there going to be?

Pit Bulls are naturally good. Its the owners who make them mean. Which is sad. Pit Bulls look very friendly in my opinon.

Yep, but as others have said there are several topics already on this subject.
Any dog can be mean. A Dalmatian in our village is the most aggressive dog I've ever met. However, despite how much I do fear her I know that it's not her fault. The owners haven't shown her any different. They haven't trained her and she's just loose in their garden all day. Obviously, she's just learnt to protect her territory really.
My Aunt had a Staffy/Pit Bull mix pup - unknowingly I might add, she didn't realize he was part Pit Bull until a couple of months after she got him. He was the sweetest dog.. he loved children and other dogs. He was one of Archie's best buddies. ^.^ However, she had to give him away because she was just too busy.

Of course Pit Bulls aren't 'mean' or 'evil'. But they aren't 'good' or 'sweet' either; only humans can posses (or be aware of) those qualities (and maybe some high-end primates, who knows).
But as HrryNrmn said, being evil and being dangerous are different things. Pitt Bulls are inherently dangerous, even when well trained, because in the right circumstances (be creative!), even the best bred and trained of them all could kill an average man.
So are they evil? Nope, they're oblivious.
Are they all born dangerous? Yeah (exept maybe for mutants born with no teeth ).

I agree with this. Pits are not born bad. And it's not just their owners, by the way.
Being an Brendel Pit Bull owner myself, I know a small bit. If the pup is properly socialized as a puppy (with other dogs and humans) it's proven that it will be "nicer" when it grows up, and be friendly even to cats.
But, not all of them who are mean are trained to be. Some can be naturally ill-tempered, just like human beings. Maybe some of them just don't like people because of one bad experience. We will never rightfully know, okay?
But my pit, Trixie Ann, was very abused her whole life. When we found her loose, she was so thin I could put my hands around her belly and my fingers would touch. Was she mean because she was abused? No. She was a ring fighter in one fight, too. Yet, she's still a big baby.
Does she commonly think that she needs to be a constant lap dog being about the size of a medium malamute? Yes.
It's not only the past owner's treatment that the dog will react to, but also the current owner's. If you buy an abused dog, and it bites and growls at you, are you going to ignore it and not give it a chance? Most likely. You have to love any animal, and take care of it. It wouldn't be right to just throw away an animal "just because it's mean".
Plus; every reaction is caused by an action. Haven't any of your noticed that when someone is attacked by the pit, they say "I was just walking by and..."? Well, they didn't give any more than that. They told most of what the dog did. It's called the "Blame Game". Their pinning all of the blame on an animal, not saying what they really did. Like, "barking" at the dog, teasing it with food, or running a stick along its fence. They will never admit that, and the owner of the dog has to put down a beloved pet because some punk wanted to play the Blame Game and not take full responsiblity.
People, you have to wake up! Not every dog that is stereotyped is all mean, there is good in everything. Like, not all Germans hate Jews. Not all black males are violent, not all whites are rich and snobby and wear brand-name cloths. Smell the roses, people, and stop negatively stereotyping!

Yes, but surely this is the same with any dog?
Any dog can 'turn' on a human being. I mean, dogs will snap. My Grandad had a Border collie who was very well-trained and intelligent yet he would bite. It's not just Pit Bulls.
Of course, Pit Bulls were bred for fighting but that will only reflect on a Pit Bull nowadays if he's introduced to fighting from a young age. If he is trained as a fighting dog then yeah, I'm afraid to say that he'll always be solely a fighting dog. If he's raised with no idea whatsoever of the fighting ring then he'll just be more or less like any normal dog.
