I thought this up when I was bored!! ^^

How do you think dogs can talk to each other? They mush have some way, I came up with a few.

1. They have there own language and use barks whines (ect) as exsprstions for emotions
This very well could be true because my dog has different barks and whines for certain emotions. She has her sad, happy, excited and angry barks. Sometimes she runs and tackles my other dog after staring at each other or wagging her tail.

2. They use body motions as a 'language'.
Say when a dog crouches down on it forepaws withits rump in the air, or roles over im submition. Dogs do often have body language to comunincate in simpil ways

3. Whine, grunts, barks and yipps.
Dog may very well use barks and whines to express themselves and comunicate. Wolves use whine and barks a lot in the wild to communicate.

4. They speak human.

Very unlikly, but it might happen. Dogs probably would have talked to us though.

5. Other
Other way (please state)

My answer would be more than one, so I can't vote. I think that they use yips, howls, etc. as well as body movements such as ear wiggles.

Dogs have also been known to mimick human language as parrots do. It's not communication though, it's just a trick like shaking or rolling over.

Dogs don't experience some of the complex emotions that humans do, so if their language was based on emotion it would be very limited. Their vocalizations, expressions and body language can have different meanings that would interpret differently than those of humans. They do have their own "language" but it certainly isn't as complex as human language. I don't believe that dogs have "words" for everything in their world. In fact I would go as far to say that they're too advanced for "words"; they don't need words to discribe things because that's what scents are for...to a dog anyway ;)

Just to generalize, dogs communicate in a totally different way than we do that is very simple but at the same time very effecient for communicating with other dogs. But with people.....not so much.

I wonder... are there emotions which dogs experience which humans don't? Ones which we perhaps don't even know about?

Yes, dogs can communicate with other dogs, maybe depending on there breed and where there from. But i;m not sure, no one is sure. I think they can even communicate with cats, but thats my thoughts. T_T

I voted for 1, but I also agree with 3.

Now, I'll edit this post with something interesting when I've got some sleep. Like my reasons for the vote I cast. But for now, you get to hear a cute story:

I was making breakfast, and my dog came in and said "Herrow". I'm not saying that dogs can speak English; I'm just saying that the noise she made sounded like a greeting. Nothing more. She probably didn't even do it on purpose.

I did see one video once where the dog could say, "I love you" But it was hard to tell what he was saying
