I was watching this movie with my 8 yr old cousin and I noticed how many bloopers there actually are. I know a lot about horses and these are all the bloopers I found in the movie
1. When his mother is giving birth, Mustangs or any horses find a secluded area to have their foals not right where the herd is.
2. When spirit is young and drinking at the lake with the other foals. Horses do not lap water like a dog. They drink similar to us.
3. When spirit grows up, A stallion does not give up his position to his next generation. In fact, when the colts become yearlings and are able to fend for themselves, he banishes them from the herd unless they challenge their father and win. Only then will they become leader.
4. When spirit discovers the men sleeping. There are five men, when they chase him, there are over 7.
5. The confederate soldiers seem to have a one colored horse, all browns, yet suddenly they allow a dun to join...Guessing the corporal wants to be noticed.
6. After they cut spirits mane..it grew back extremly fast. It would have taken years grow as long as it had before.
7. At the end of the movie when he returns to the herd, It has obviosly been a long time that he has been away from his herd. Yet the two foals he saved by the mountain lion are still foals...

8. When Rain comes back right before she's let go she had nothing covering the wound and it's obviously been atleast two days or so after she got it.
9. When Spirit returned to the herd it had been a long time wouldn't they have another leader?

one part I didn't get about the movie was, why hadn't a bachalor stallion taken over the herd? Spirit's mom couldn't have lead the herd for a long time without another stallion taking over! And yes it is a fact that young stallions get kicked out, maybe Spirit did get kicked out but returned once he was stronger though I highly dought that.

About the brown horses thing, that's because they're throughbreds (is that how you spell it?) which is the equivilent to purebred. The Colonel would of wanted a mustang as they're fast as the throughbreds, I guess. I noticed the mane thing almost right away tho. Also, I have a theory about Spirit's father - I think he may have been killed before Spirit was born, and since his mother knew that there was another foal on the way she decided to lead the herd until he was born. Spirit would of taken the lead anyway as he's obviously a bit more stronger than the others. But on the return thing - another horse would of taken the lead, not saying that it would of specifically been a stallion, but Spirit's mother couldn't of led them after he left as she was older and not as strong.

Let's all try to remember that animation is more or less an exaggeration of reality. Plus, it's for the little ones, while the older ones more or less get a headache from digging up loopholes.

I caught on to that one the first time I saw the movie. That probably occurs in wild horses to prevent inbreeding-pretty smart if you ask me. Spirit talks as if the herd was "handed down" to him by his father. I don't think there is a hierarchy in the animal world that works that way. Think about it, animals don't care whether their son takes their place at the top in leadership or not. It's all about who's strongest.
Also, I do think Spirit's band is kind of large-especially in that first scene with the horses running(there's like freaking 50 something horses running around in that scene!). I mean think of how easy it would be for another stallion to steal them and how hard he'd have to work to get all of those mares himself.........whoops, I forgot his father, who obviously died at some point during Spirits life, aready had the mares and handed....I mean HOOVED them down to Spirit. And, by the time he met Rain, he'd probably have 30-something foals already since he was already a stallion at the begining of the film that we don't even see when he returns home(just those two foals who apparently stay the same age). Ahhh, what a scientifically accurate movie.
But hey, what do you expect? If your kids want to LEARN about wild horses, let 'em watch Cloud: Wild Stallion of the Rockies. I'd never expect an animated kids movie to be THAT accurate. Not saying you have of course
