This has really been bothering me lately, and I'm sorry if this a useless topic, but I have to let it out.
Recently, I've seen some people on Amazon.com and other places complain about the historical accuracy of Balto. It really ticks me off, because they blame it for something it was never intended to be. They say that artistic licence should be strictly limited, Togo should have more credit, doesn't respect the original story blah blah blah...
It annoys me because when the makers of the film put pen to paper, they were not trying to make a documetary. They simply wanted to entertain, and it seems many cynical people can't realise this. I mean, geese don't talk (or have teeth) do they?
What Balto did capture was the original esscence of the true story, and that's what made it so inspirational. Who cares if it is not historically accurate? I care about the characters, and what happens to them.

Everyone has a right to their own opinion, but I still feel that they could have given Balto more of a chance. Also, on the US DVD, the slogan 'The True Story of an American Hero' didn't help at all.

I can see where the point in this is.

Possibly, the people think that Balto should have been more accurate. If I have my facts right, he wasn't even half wolf.

If they'd just pay attention, it's an animated video.

SOMETHING MAY BE BASED OF A TRUE STORY BUT IT WILL NEVER BE 100% LEGIT!

That's all I have to say, and also what you should tell those people. :]

Yeah, bothers me too. It also seems to be the only thing that people complain about.

It's just like some people say: the movie would've suffered from not having these inaccuracies.

This happens because people don't know the difference between "based on a true story" and "this is a true story". They are simply ignorant.

I so totally agree with you.

Yeah I completely agree, think some people just like to think they know more about the actual events and try to flaunt it by saying how innacurate the movie is when all it was meant to be was a good all round family entertainment film Based on actual events
