OK, I've been reading some posts, and noticed most of them we're in the wrong topic/board thing. Some people maybe new, but thats not really an excuse, new people and people who have been here should follow the same rules. And in doing so, reading the rules and knowing where your topic belongs.

Also, I see people commenting on peoples post saying, 'Oh, this post should be in the whatever board.' And then the poster will reply with a 'Oh, sorry I didnt know...Im kinda new.' And it goes on with a 'Dont worry about it! Just dont do it anymore.'

It takes up space and gives me headaches to see that...

BEING NEW ISN'T AN EXCUSE!

Ok? Be smart.

Exacly. Its basicly just laziness and not bothering to read the rules.

People SHOULD read the rules before posting ANYTHING, either a thread OR just a post. Its one of the things that really gets on my nurves for one. However, we can't exacly force people to read the rules. But if they dont, they get banned and or warned for doing the wrong thing. Its their choice.

All.

This annoys me too, and if I post something somewhere and I'm not sure where it really goes, I put it in "other" or whichever Category fits it more. I mean, people, is it THAT hard for you to match the topic with a category/board? I mean, it tells you, BLUNTLY, what the category/board is for, right?

People just don't want to use their brains anymore. Yes, I myself am lazy, but I at least follow all the rules I know (unless a new one comes out of nowhere then I have to break it to know about it XD).

I honestly think that the problem is this:

-They don't bother even looking for the rules when they join, that or just glance at them and pay no heed (attention) to them
-They think that, since it's the internet, no one will care.

When I say "they", I mean the people not following the rules. I mean, sure, you're new to the site. But that is, as you said, no excuse for negilegence (sp?).

Usually the reason why the new members post in the wrong place is because they put it in the wrong section by accident. It happens to older members too. And also alot of new members wouldnt know where to put it, even if it says "Introduction, seggestions, rantboard, ect:" They probly dont know that yet.

To be honest, its lack of brain cells. BEING NEW ISNT AN EXCUSE. OK???

Its not! You should read the rules, and figure it out! If you dont know where something goes, dont post, or ASK. Jeez...or put in the 'Other' section...thats what its for! Thats all I have to say, because it happens more and more as people join. Its great that this place is growing, and all, but we get ditzes who come who cant follow rules..

Right. If you were referring to my thread, you're being a bit harsh. For a forum problem, you ask on the main page? That's like going to the butchery to ask for a pound of flour.

Unless you can show me something I may have missed, I don't see how any average person couldn't make that mistake.

This topic is not entirely about you and your mistake, you were not the first person to make the mistake of putting a topic in the wrong section (and unfortunently you won't be the last).

However, I also believe being new isn't an excuse. If you truly don't know where a subject is ask a mod (or any member for that reason) on the sb or a PM where your topic should go...
...or just put it in the Other section.

I never said entirely! >_> But I did make the mistake and my thread probably has something to do with this, though.

True there. Most stuff like this is just common sense on a forum.

chill man. i mean they are new. i would consider it an exuse, for they dont know when they get into trouble for doing it. i mean what do you do when a brand new person uses sms language on the shoutbox?
new person: hey ppl whats up. its lyk so kool here on bs
mod: you shouldn't use sms language. its a rule
new person: im sorry, i didnt know, wont happen again
mod: ok but if me or another mod catch you again you will be banned.
new person: ok
they didnt know. right? so you nicely and calmly remind them about rules.
besides, if they are distant and have no relation to the forum area they were posted in, they will be deleted by a mod most of the time.

uh....when was this topic about SMS anyway? Last I checked it was about people putting topics in wrong sections

And anyway, it's not always so cut and dry...some people get multiple warnings and don't stop (this applies more to SMS though then wrong topics in wrong places).

I can sort of understand if people don't know where the questions section is, because it's not on the forums anymore, but still if you don't know where to put it,you can ask someone else where the topic goes and they can point you in the right direction...and anyway, the forum sections have names, so you can basicly tell where everything goes, but there are some exceptions and those can go in the Others section.

Also, not all people who do this are new, I've seen some older members do it, but it's pretty rare...

They don't know that they get in trouble? come on, it's pretty obvious that if you're going to make a topic you should put it in the right section. That's common sense. And if they don't know, then they didn't read the rules, which, of course, is bad.

However, human nature is nothing near perfection and these things still happen unfortunently.

it was an example of how people react, to a different situation, yes.

We are humans, we all make mistakes. Even I made this mistake, and we all do. Not like this rant is bad but... It's exagerated.
