Hey there all!

I have an idea for something and I don't think anyone has thought of this (and if someone has, please delete this please. I thought it sounded like a good idea, anyway . . .).

What if we had a Balto fan-fiction challenge? Maybe something dealing with a basic theme and writers have a certain amount of time to write and post their work before the forum public (you guys) vote for a winner. Of course, there will be rules (basically the fan-fiction rules from the site still apply here . . . duh.) and maybe some guidelines that must be followed (maybe like it has to be up to a certain amount of words or written in a certain style, or whatever . . . you get the picture, right?).

I think this would be a great way for newbies (new writers), experienced fan-writers, and all of those in between to showcase their talents of writing and their passion for the character of Balto. Plus, it would be nice to have some of our fellow writers to make a return by joining in, wouldn't it?

*cough* . . . this would be an interesting site contest too, Steet . . . *cough*

Anywho, that's my idea. If this is acceptable, I think I might be interested in helping to set the ground rules so that the competition is fair and fun at the same time. Please tell me what you think of it and thank you for reading!

This sounds like it would be pretty interesting. :] Don't know if I would be able to do it around everything else I will have going on, but it would be fun for all those who can, that's for sure! ;D

I think it would be a great site idea! Maybe the winner could be featured as fan fiction writer of the week.... It is a great idea in my opinion.

But I'm afraid about the same thing, as voting for the same person, maybe the well known, and the others might be "outcasted".

Seriously, I'm still working on my first fanfic, but I've written not exactly so few novels that can be bought.

Sounds like a fun contest, and if it ever happens, I'm in.

I kind of agree with that last point . . . but when I say "restrictions", I didn't mean to strict style all of the time . . . just for certain themes for the specific time.

(But if you're talking about restrictions, as in word count or things like that . . . it's nothing much. Not all topics will be restricted to an amount of words, but some could be, I dunno . . . no more than 500 words? It offers a challenge . . . and I've seen it in blog communities many, many times before and they've been awesome reads.)

For example: if the theme was . . . I dunno, something to deal with "Steele after the end of the original movie", note there is no specification for what did happen to him. However, if I restricted it by saying "no more than 500 words", I didn't mean it had to be in a certain style. Write it in poetry, dramatical-like, . . . just about anything! (as long as it follows the main theme for the certain challenge)

I offered this challenge so that we could all show off the original writing styles that we all have and maybe try new ones if the challenge tells us to do so. This way, you as a writer could expand the ways that you can tell a story to satisfy anyone.

I hope this clarifies your questions, Claymore, and thank you all for your support! I'll see if maybe soon I (with Steet's approval) could get one underway in a month or so (my main computer's getting sent out for repairs and I have a couple of trips that I'll be taking in late June and early July).

Hmm . . . I dunno, to tell you the truth.

Perhaps a coolie banner for the certain theme/challenge/etc.? That's my best guess. Then you could post it with your other fics on the site (if you can do that . . .) or on the fic forums.

That and bragging rights. Just don't brag too much, okay?

If someone made a specific scenario, and it interested me, I'd probably write a fanfiction. It'd be nice to have a contest, as long as everyone didn't pick favorites.
