We all know the tragic story... they poured three hard years into this movie, and then they made the worst possible mistakes with it. They put it in the theaters at the wrong times, they did little to advertise it, etc. Nothing about the movie needed to be changed - we know that plenty well.

As for me, I would have put it in theaters about 2 months earlier so it wouldn't have to go up against the novelty of 3D animated movies. Either that, or a year later, when everyone was used to the novelty. Preferably two months earlier though. Wasn't it's audio already outdated before it hit theaters?

As for the advertising, I think I actually remember a commercial for it's theater showing. It seemed interesting due to my interest in canines. However, I didn't have a say in what movie we went to see, so naturally my family and some of our friends went to see Toy Story. The commercial should have aimed it more towards the family, however much it was. It should have made the movie seem like one that would be good even for the parents, because that's something that Toy Story might not have been.

Doing that would have helped it sell better on tape, and perhaps we'd be looking at a Balto 4 at this point. On a sidenote, it also would've helped to put more effort in Balto 2 and 3.

I'd do everything that you have previously said. I would also give Balto a GOOD DVD with GOOD advertising. Also, giving it GOOD sequels would help tons (well, Wolf Quest wasn't that bad).

I would give it better advertising, a better DVD (with tons of special features and better box art), better sequels, and better relesed dates.

I think they fell into the old movie release trap of releasing your movie into a multimillion dollar movie that will draw more people than ever excepted. If it was released perhaps, as you said, two months earily then maybe it would have done better.

Although the DVD is something I'm saddened with. It's just bad quality. It's the movie (not to mention it seemed the animation wasn't restored to it's former glory) in a box. The cover is not as good as it should have been.

I just wish that they release a real Special Edition DVD with special features and subtitles and good stuff like that.

Adriondack => Mmm... :roll:

Well I have already said my opinion many times, so I won't repeat myself. But instead of looking at the past, maybe it would be more useful to look at the future : what would you do NOW if you were to do something for the movie?
