Congratulations, but one question: Have you owned a dog before? Jack Russell Terriers (or JRTs), although small, are very energetic.
Make sure you don't treat him like a small apartment dog, because that's exactly what JRTs aren't. They will need at least half an hour of exercise, preferably more. Too many JRTs are being placed into shelters because the owners thought they'd get a lapdog, and ended up with a terror of a terrier.
But it's good you're choosing to get a small dog. Why, I know someone who got a Flat Coated Retriever as their first dog because the father wanted a "big, blokey dog" and a jogging partner. Plus he said Golden Retrievers are girly >=(
Guess what? They had no control over their dog, still don't, quit obedience classes and now run a dog walking and grooming business. Pfft.
Ah, offtopic.
Good luck with the dog!

I can only repeat what OwnedByAGoldenRetriever said.
Yeah, Jack Russells are cute but energetic.. they can also be a bit too noisy for my liking but otherwise, yep, nice dogs. I saw a stray Jack Russell a few months ago but I couldn't catch him. =/
