I really hate it when people on the forums bring up topics that were last commented on a year ago. And most of the time the person is just spamming and trying to get their post count up.

well what if people run out of topics to read?

I hardly doubt that people will run out of topics to read. Most of the time, when members do this, it's just because they want to be apart of a conversation, and act like they're one of the older, or more important members. Personally, I don't think it's very intelligent, but people have their reasons.

Anyways, unless the topic was very important, and contained useful information in it, I suspect the moderators would have deleted the thread already. But, even mods aren't perfect!

I have to agree with you on this. I see this happen on the introduction board a lot. People want to bring their post count up, so they post in old introduction topics (sometimes the member they're "welcoming" being well older than them on the site) and the really annoying thing is other people "welcome" this not so new person as well, not even paying heed to how old the topic is.

This goes for topics in other boards as well. As long as these people answer with something new to the topic, I'm fine with it. But usually people will post in topics that have already been finished ages ago and their post does nothing to the topic except get it locked...It's very annoying...

I have no problem if someone does not want to make a whole new topic or their input can further the conversation but most of the ones go like this:

"I agree" and thats all they say

You can READ old topics, but just because you read one, doesn't mean you have to post in it. I always thought it was common sence to not post in an old topic that everyone has fogotten about....

I agree 100% too.

But there is maybe a reason to why they do it. They probably don't even bother to look at the date when it was brought up, then other people will think its a NEW topic (if they haven't seen it before), and it would continue.

Yes, this bothers me alot too. But theres not much we can do about it.

I only broung up old topics because I found some of them interesting. and I thought some other people who haven't been here that long would find interest in them too.

That is what I was agreeing about.

But what if some of those users never returned to the forum, should new people post on old topics from some of those people who have not or dont even get on very much?

I think it's really bad when it's an older member and they bring up a topic that already has be remade one the first page.

That is just unnecessary.
