Temporarily postponed! Reason: I need a small team to be able to take the game any further than just 2.0%!

Teaser: Taken down
Instructions: Run RGSS100J install.exe first. This will install the needed system file to run the game with. Then install Balto - The Game Installer.exe and finish that one.
After installing, go to its folder and replace Audio and Graphics with the folders contained in this zip-file: [Taken down]
Note: RGSS100J install.exe will be, in the installer named MyProduct (I forgot to change the name).

Note2: The game is only 0,3% finished, and you will only see part of the introduction scene, taken from steet's preview gamebook (thanks for making it, steet). Though you will have to exit the game after the screen goes black. ???'s real identity will be revealed. Keep posting suggestions.

Note3: If you open the graphics folder, you might notice there are things there that doesn't fit in the Balto Game. They are temporary resources being used until I can get my hands on better. They can work as templates for you to experiment with, and if you make something good with em, be sure to show em to me, please ^^
-----------------------------------------------------------

Hello. I am looking for a small crew of BS people that wants to create a Balto game with me.
I use RPG Maker XP for this, for those who wonders.

Anyways; the storyline goes through all, yes, ALL the Balto movies, so you will basically play through the movie. Also, there will be different endings depending on how you've progressed through it. So, here is what I need (this is a vouluntary job, no payments):

Animators: People who can draw and animate pretty well, to make cutscenes of things that might happen. You should be able to draw and animate Nome and other terrains mostly.

Graphic Creators: People who can draw characters/terrains similar to Balto 1-3, and people who can create intro screens, and credit screens.

Scripters: People who have used RPG Maker XP before, and can script Ruby scripts. Must be a decent, good or master scripters, please.

Composers: People creating music for the game

Someone who can get me small cutscenes from the three movies by request.

And someone with ideas for minigames.

I'll handle the events stuff and set the whole thing together, and hopefully we'll all have made a pretty darn good game.

Apply here. Website will be up soon.

(By the way, Balto - The Game (2D) is in no way affiliated or supported by Universal Studios. This is entirely fan made, every resource used (c) their respective owners. The game will be encrypted to avoid any inconvenience from both the creators and Universal (aka stealing game resources) All characters and cutscenes from the Balto movies found in this game are characters are © Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment. )

I won't actually join the little game making thing because i don't have any art programmes that could help (that and i'm rubbish using them).
But i can give you mini-game ideas.
i have one for the first movie.
After Balto and Jenna find out about the medicine, the mushers get their dogs ready to race (as it does in the film) but you could have several min-game races with obstacles that you have to get through
OR
The race can be a major part of the game but there are mini-games that you come to in it. such as when it comes to the part where balto is knocked off the track the jumping and climbing bit is the obstacle course.

just an idea ^^[/b]

This seems interesting, although I have seen too often people displaying a video game project and then nothing.
I have already used RPG maker and made games, I don't remember that it was even possible to program with it. (but maybe this has changed in the more recent versions?) But as you can guess, I don't have enough time to participate in a project like this.
You'll notice that for the contest, I haven't quoted RPG maker, the reason being that I don't see how you could make a RPG with 4-feet animals who can't "speak" with humans. I wonder how you want to manage this.
Anyway, looking forward to any result. :)

RPG Maker XP has a new scripting system, allowing you to fully customize your game. However, RPG Maker doesn't nescessarily mean you HAVE to make an RPG. I mean, not all games have battles in them, right? ^^

Still, you got a point. This project is a no-go if no people apply for any positions. Could always hope for the best, though. At the moment, as I write this, I'm creating the first maps of the minigames. I'll post screenshots soon.

Ok, then this does sound very interesting, true.
I think I used RPG maker 97, it didn't have anything like this but it was still fun...:)

To SFW: Not an internet game, neither for XBox. It is going to be a computer game.

To Little C4t: What's credits? howl.gif Just joking. Sure. I'll credit everyone who comes up with ideas and the crew ^^

To Silver Deni: ^^ Thanks for the support. I'll have some screenshots of the menu screen soon, I hope.

Still need a picture without copyright/owner references for it, though. Of course, the copyright and creator will be credited during the game introduction.

The project has been temporarily postponed, due to massive aumonts of work that requires prioritation. I will resume the project later on, however.

Project is restarted, and the teaser game is up. 0,3% complete, guys.

Oh, it's still being uploaded, and it's on 31 mb (though the game currently is only 30 seconds long) because of the required resources. I included them to save you a hell of update downloading.

Should be uploaded in an hour. Enjoy, and give me feedback. Instructions and link is provided in the first post.

PS. If the game refuses to start, search your computer for the file named RGSS100J.dll and put it directly into the system32 folder in your WINDOWS folder.

Here's the pathway: C:\WINDOWS\system32\RGSS100J.dll

That's how it should be after the movement of the file. I'll see if I can solve the problem if it should occur to save you from this.

ACK, I forgot to upload the other resources as well... Sorry, I will try to upload them right away.

EDIT: Resources being uploaded, the game teaser is finished. Resources estimate on 30 mins from 23:55 GMT+01
