Post subject: Balto source...erm...color change? Posted: Wed May 16, 2007 5:06 pm |

I know there have been a few topics about changing the layout of Balto Source, but maybe something simpler is possible? I set the site's background as my desktop and tinted it green with the "Hue" thing with Paint Shop Pro. Would it be practical to once in a while change the colors of Balto Source?

Well, then that's OK! I am just speaking on behalf of anyone who might oppose it... that is why I don't think it is a good idea, since "No's" are stronger than "Yes"'s, for the most part, and if people will be annyed by constant color change... what will happen to BS as we know it (Or rather as it should be)?

It doesn't have to be too often. I mean like, once a year maybe- so people won't see changes too often. Just when people get bored of the old color, there's a new one. Not much should happen to BS besides the color change o_O

One day...But it's not priority...
At least, not before the next version of phpBB and the new layout I'll make for it.

Quoted for truth.

I already know that has been discussed several times, I am talking about the website itself. Quote: There are already some skins and layouts you can use for Balto Source. It's really, really hard and it takes a lot of time to create a new layout, but Steet said he will do it when PHPbb 3 comes out.
Again, wrong idea. I know of the forum skins. I am talking about the actual site.

Same for the layout (this is why Steet asked members to make a new skin for The Lion King Board and he didn't make one himself, he had no time).
Well, I have seen websites where you click on a link and it changes the CSS stylesheet used. Maybe, a simpler way can be used, like making a stylesheet and manually changing which one is used once in a while...

Yes, CSS changing wouldn't be a problem. But the site didn't use CSS at first, so there are a few places where CSS isn't used and it would lead to text unreadable.
And even with something like this, it doesn't prevent that I would need to make all the pictures for a new layout.

Well, no, I guess not...but changing the color of the pictures (with something like Hue on Paint Shop Pro) is slightly simpler, but still takes effort.
