I've noticed that there are hardly any 2d animated movies out there anymore. You know what? I personally miss them. There's a certain quality to a 2D animation that 3D or Flash doesn't achieve. It's probably because all this computer generated junk is too perfect. The perfection is sometimes distracting. 2D animation is not perfect, but that roughess gives it a character.

I also have to hand it to 2D animators. They cry and sweat blood in order to get a piece of the movie done. 3D animators, they work hard, but it's a 100x easier.

The only 2D animation I see out there today is stuff from Japan and crappy American. The Japanese animes are neat, but they're very formulaic. All anime looks similar, so therefore the animation is not art since the characters are all trite. The American cartoons look like they were constructed in MS Paint. Also, many of them look like they were animated in Flash, giving them a very "puppet like" movement to them.

Unfortunately, the movie business doesn't want to look back at 2D animation. The process is too hard, so they take the easy road with computers. They need to understand that artist shouldn't take the easy way, but should take the most beautiful way.

i totaly agree with this. i miss the good 2D animations 3D is cool but its just not the same. and todays cartoons are ... well idk to 2d if that makes sence. i like drawn with perspectives. everthing today is side scrolling... its boring. there are a select few that are good. but dont say flash cant make good quality animation. its just lazy animators who like to get away with calling tweening animation lol.

just a heads up- Disney does have plans to do more 2-d movies, starting with American Dog (I don't know the release date). however, the plot sounds quite a bit like 101 Dalmations 2...

don't forget about "Wolf"! http://www.wolfmovie.com

Okay... now I personally don't see anything wrong with 3-D animation! I mean... look at Spirit! I have personally never seen ANY better animation in an animated movie! And that's got alotta 3-D animation in it! And just because the animators don't put as much effort in than with 2-D, they still work really hard. Don't think that workin' with computers isn't tough! And besides, the less time they work on it, the quicker the movie's done! XD

In fact, the only animated 3-D film with terrible animation is Balto 2! Wish I could say the same about 2-D animation.

I prefer 3-D animation. I'm not saying I don't like 2-D animation, 3-D is just more beautiful and smooth and sparkly.

And this is my opinion. I'm not tryna' start a war. I'm just statin' it.

well that is difrent. im thinking of the drawn animations vs the CGI. not saying its bad. its kool to see how real like the CGI can be. but i would prefer to watch a good 2-D animation then the CGI... i think the last 2-D to be made was the fox and the hound 2.. and that was a last year. the story wasnt the best . but the animation was awesome. very smooth... i wana see more of that... :)

Disney is making 2 more animated movies that I know of (they're NOT any crappy sequels), but anyway, it just depends on the movie. Some look better in CGI, others look better in traditional 2D. I personally prefer 2D, though.
