I was just thinking about the scene when Morris (the bulldog from the telegraph office) barks the message that Steele and his team are lost. He appears to make long and short barks, maybe he is barking in Morse code!

Yes, he did - and clearly it worked, as Doc heard him.

Actually, his true name is Morse, not Morris...I don't know why the americans keep making that mistake. And if you don't trust me, I've seen his name on concept arts.

So yes, he is speaking morse code, I thought it was obvious from the very first you see the film...

Morris works best as a first name and it can serve as a pun for Morse. I don't know anybody/anything with the first name of Morse.

But I like that dog. I laughed when I first saw him.

Well, his name only gets spoken once in the film, and even I have to admit it sounded a bit like "Morris" -- mainly because the Nome Telegrapher slurred the "R" too long. XD My, my, how detailed we are getting, yup?

Anywho, I also thought it was pretty obvious he was barking morse. And I have to agree with the fact Doc interpreted his message much too quickly, but c'mon, you don't want to keep the audience waiting. :D

Now it's opinion time. ^^ I actually thought Morse was kinda funny. Sure, you'd grow crazy like him too if you were stuck in a telegraph office all day. I love the fact his ears twitch at every beep. And even when they aren't moving, his pupil dilates. XD I wish I could do that.

At least, in the french version, there's no doubt about that : it is prononced Morse and not Morris; these two have a totally different pronunciation in french, unlike english.
