I would like this. It would help the moderators jobs a little too, considering there are many responsible members on here that know when their topics are in need of being locked. So, I yes, I agree it would be very useful, BUT, is it possible? Can it be done?

That's why Mods are. They have the only power to lock threads. If members would have to lock their "own". What would be the use of the Mods?

Or if the topic starter requests for it to be locked.

This idea has never worked in any forum, it wouldn't work here (especially because Balto Source members are often young). There are a lot of mods, PM them or use the report button, so they can decide if the topic should be locked or not (and we are more expert to choose).

I agree that this wouldn't work. People would have it locked if someone said something that displeased them or such. It would be useful to some of us, but it would cause to much trouble for the mods when its easier for them to just lock topics and not have to worry about memebers locking them.

Well said Togo. I completely agree with you. Or if somebody wants to be mean by locking someone else's thread from a bad mood, that wouldn't be very nice of them if they could do it. Or if they lock it cause you're not popular with them...

It's not currently possible without modifying the source code of the forums. Maybe this will be possible with the next version, but even if it does, I'm not sure I would activate this, because sometimes someone may lock his topic for no real reason while it could interest some other people.

I don't particularly agree with this. For one, this would totally defeat the purpose of forum mods and like Steet said, they could just lock it for no apparent reason. The mods do a fine job of locking topics, anyway.

Deni we think alike. I mean that would be taking the mods' uses away
