The purpose of this topic is to introduce all of you to the characters that will be in my upcoming original story, "Thunderhearts: The Rogue Valley Mustangs". The story itself is still being worked on, but it's basically about a mustang herd, a stallion named Cyclone in particular, and his life and heritage in the late 1800's. The story takes place in southern Oregon and follows a family of horses through betreyal, temptation, murder and love (it will be rated at least PG-13 for Adult Content, Adult Language, Violence and Some Sexual Suggestions...NOT FOR KIDS!!). Thunder's son/Twister's fatherName: Tornado ( AKA 'Stallion with a Thousand Spots' )
Age: Deceased
Breed: Mustang
Color: Appaloosa
Personality: Loyal to his father, Thunder, Tornado's goal was to keep the ThunderHearts herds' beliefs strong (then his son Twister had to go and screw it all up XD).
Likes: Foals, telling stories.
Dislikes: Punishing the foals/mares.
Bio: His father was the Monarch of the ThunderHearts and their namesake, Thunder. After he dies, Tornado takes over the herd and tries his best to keep the herd pure, like his father intended. But when his successor, Twister is born, Tornado falls ill and is dying. He tries to reason with his young son that he had done wrong and his Spirit was going to leave his body; but that Twister must keep the herd pure. Twister refuses, convinced that he would do as he pleased and that the old laws meant nothing to him. Tornado died at age 29.

Personality: Aggressive, Show off, Dictator (treats his mares like slaves)
Likes: His mares, his foals, himself, fighting
Dislikes: Other stallions, humans, fire.
Cyclone's father was a Shire stallion who escaped from his camp. He was recaptured eventually, but not before impregnating a mustang mare. The lead stallion raised Cyclone as his own until he found out that the oversized colt was not his own. He was viciously attacked by the herd stallion and left for dead when he was just 5 months old. Furious and craving revenge, Cyclone joined a bachelor herd and quickly became their leader, for he was 3 times their size, even at half their age. After 6 years of nothing but fighting and bulking up, Cyclone returned to his old herd, and killed the stallion that evicted him so long ago. Along with the herd of his own, he was rewarded with his step-father's favorite mare, a young 4 year old dapple grey named Gypsy. Gyspy soon becomes Cyclone's favorite mare too. Cyclone soon becomes a strict tyrant among his herd...vowing to never let his mares breed with any other stallion, and punishing those who disobey; he keeps an even closer eye on Gypsy.

Cyclone's Step-SireName: Twister
Age: Deceased
Breed: Mustang
Color: Appaloosa
Personality: Ignorant, self-centered, oblivious.
Likes: Mating, mares, looking at himself
Dislikes: Being lied to
The most feared stallion in the plains, Twister had a reputation of keeping more mares then he could service. While he was busy checking himself out, his mares were being bred left and right by different stallions. Twister was lucky if he fathered half of the foals born in his herd. He raised Cyclone as his own; and even promised him the herd one day. It broke his heart when he found out Cyclone was not his. After running LocoWeed out of the herd, Twister became depressed for a long time. When Cyclone returns, he kills Twister. The old stallions' final words were this:

Cloud's Mother/Hurricane's Step-MotherName: Storm
Age: 27
Breed: Mustang Pony (she's only 14 hands)
Color: Liver Chestnut Paint
Personality: Sneaky, manipulative, intelligent
Likes: Getting things her way; Loyal to Twister and their past generations
Dislikes: LocoWeed, Cyclone, Gypsy and her own son, Cloud.
Bio: Her grandmother was Thunder's favorite mare, her mother was Tornado's favorite mare, and she was SUPPOSED to be Twister's favorite mare. But when Twister took over the ThunderHearts herd, he introduced foriegn mares and made LocoWeed his favorite mare. Strom hated him for that, and to get him back, got bred by another stallion and had Cloud. She soon felt guilty about betraying her ancestors and disowned her son. She then turned her hate on LocoWeed and her son, Cyclone. One day, Storm overheard LocoWeed telling Cyclone that Twister wasn't his father. Storm wasted no time in giving the news to Twister. When LocoWeed was driven from the herd, Storm expected to be rewarded as leadmare. It did not come to be, and Twister made Loco's sickly sister, TumbleWeed the new leadmare. When Tumble dies giving birth to Hurricane, Storm offered to care for the foal in hopes of gaining Twister's favor. Again, Twister adopted a new leadmare to the herd; Gypsy. When Cyclone returns and kills Twister, Storm decided to poison young Hurricane's mind; and make him hate Cyclone so that he would kill him when he gets older. Storm is the oldest member of the ThunderHearts herd...her goal is to have Cyclone killed. In her mind, it would save the bloodlines of the ThunderHearts.

Age: 16
Breed: Mustang
Color: Piebald Paint
Personality: Curious, nosy, clever.
Likes: Ben, new things, commotion.
Dislikes: Repeatition, being alone.
After returning to her herd, the stallion, Twister, didn't notice her absence and assumed he must've bred LocoWeed already. When she finally dropped her foal, Twister was pleased with the colt's size, but question his strange eye color. LocoWeed lied; saying the blue-eyes were a genetic throwback from her family. Twister bought the ploy and raised the colt as his own. But, when the foal turned 5 months and was already his "father's" size, Twister confronted LocoWeed, who brokedown in tears. Again, she lied, stating she was raped by a Cavelry horse. In a rage, Twister attacks an unsuspecting Cyclone; nearly killing him. LocoWeed was then banished from the herd. Some mares say LocoWeed is still alive, but others question this theory.

Personality: Flirtatious with stallions/pushy and bossy towards other mares.
Likes: Cyclone, powerful stallions, herself.
Dislikes: Other mares, wimpy stallions, foals, watching Cyclone breed the other mares.
Fears: Motherhood
Gypsy left her own homeland with the stallion who evicted Cyclone from the herd. She followed him willingly because he was strong and feared by other stallions (Gypsy is VERY attracted to power). When Cyclone returned, Gypsy immediatly fell for him and his muscles, and even began flirting with him before he killed the ageing stallion. She still flirts every so often with others, but Cyclone has yet to be defeated. So, until a bigger, stronger stallion comes along, she prefers to be with Cyclone.

Breed: Mustang
Color: Piebald Paint
Personality: Used to be playful and happy; is now thirsty for revenge.
Likes: Storm (his guardian mare). Not much else.
Dislikes: Everything; mainly Cyclone.
Bio: After running LocoWeed out of the herd, Twister took to TumbleWeed, Loco's sister. She sadly died giving birth to Hurricane (which is why Twister stole Gypsy). Hurricane was nursed by a mare named Quartz, but raised by an old mare named Storm; who was very loyal to Twister and his family. After Cyclone killed Twister in front of Hurricane, Storm and a few other mares begin to poison the foal's mind; urging him to train and become strong so he can defeat Cyclone. Hurricane can't wait until the day he does what Cyclone to did to his father...smash him into a bloody pulp.

Personality: Laid back, calm, quiet, loyal.
Likes: Working for/with Cyclone
Dislikes: Snooty mares, when Cyclone loses his temper.
Bio: His mother is Storm; but she disownes him because Twister is not Cloud's father (though she was very loyal to Twister and his family, she sadly fell into temptation and bred with another stallion). Cloud was the only foal who would play with Cyclone, and soon became his best friend. He was kicked out of the herd a few months before Cyclone, but the two friends eventually find each other. Cloud helps Cyclone to train so he could get revenge and Cyclone rewards him with 5 mares. The stallions are still very close; and even protect each other's mares.

Bio: I won't say much about this character, except that she falls in love with Hurricane (She doesn't know he wants to kill her father; he doesn't know she's Cyclone's daughter).

MINOR CHARACTERSCyclone's SireName: Big Ben
Age: Deceased
Breed: Shire
Color: Paintaloosa
Personality: Gentle under saddle, secretly wants to be free.
Likes: LocoWeed, open plains, throwing his weight around the humans.
Dislikes: Having his bit yanked on, having his mane plaited, traveling by ship.
Owned by the Queen of England, and one of her favorite mounts, Ben was shipped off to Virginia along with the Govorner of England and his aides. Their mission was to oversee the progress in the West. The small group travelled cross-country to Oregon, where Ben meets LocoWeed, a wild mare who had snuck away from her herd to avoid being bred (it was mating season at the time). Ben escapes during the night and hides in a cave behind a waterfall with LocoWeed in hopes that the humans wouldn't find them. The very next morning, however, the Govorners' aides capture Ben; leaving a very pregnant LocoWeed to return to her herd. Ben is thought to be deceased.

Colors: Stump: red roan appaloosa; Moon: Gray Pinto
Personalities: Stump- Horny; Loves to eat, has a major crush on Gypsy, secretly hates Cyclone, but fears him too much to say anything bad. Moon- Good with the ladies, likes to chase things smaller then himself, has his hooves full keeping his little brother out of trouble.
Bios: A disgrace to their previous herd, they were kicked out by their father to fend for themselves. They travelled to the Rogue Valley were they meet Cloud and joined him. Later, they find 5 month old Cyclone at the edge of the Rogue River. When Cyclone claims the ThunderHearts, he appoints Stump and Moon his messengers as well as his spies.
Moon is good with the mares, and is very attractive. But when it comes to mating, he becomes nervous and fumbles, eventually driving the unsatisfied females away. Moon is still a virgin. His brother Stump hasn't mated with another horse either, but unlike his brother, Stump is far from being a virgin. He's not above bustin' a nut in a deer, elk, cattle or even a fine-looking rock. He has a huge crush on Gypsy and back talks Cyclone, but fears the huge stallion, so he keeps his insults between himself and his brother.

Bio: Stolen by Twister with her sis, LocoWeed. Tumble was always sickly and miscarried her foals. When she finally did give birth to Hurricane, she died.

Hurricane's Surrogate MotherName: Quartz
Age: Roughly 5 years old

Personality : Gentle, sweet-natured, generous
Likes : A lot of things
Dislikes : Few things
Bio: No one is really sure where she came from. She just showed up one day while Twister was gone. Her milksacs were full, but she had no foal by her side. The other mares simply guessed that her foal was killed. Shortly after Twister returned [with Gypsy], TumbleWeed died giving birth to Hurricane. Quartz happily offered to nurse the foal while Storm cared for him. No one in the herd has any ill-feelings towards the calm appy, and she has no problems with anyone.
