I understand that there is a topic that Steet wrote about what you post/cannot post/do on this site... but recently, I notice tons of people are posting stupid things like, "Hello, everyone! I am new here and I want to say hi all!" Isn't this a waste of space? Couldn't we use this wasted space for something else?

At the very least, I would think they could post some version of a bio... maybe not of themselves, but of their fursona, if they have one. If not, they could tell why they joined BS. Why do we all go into the Introduction section anymore? To read cheery newbie messages?

This is just my opinion... I for one don't bother to go to the Introductions anymore. The last thought-out and least-bit-interesting post that I personally saw was my own. I don't mean or want to sound conceited; I just want to say that: If you are going to post a greeting, post something worth reading! And I would think that short one-liners shouldn't even be replied to.

All in all, the one-liner "bios" in the introduction section are just space-wasters... we know everything about them, comparing to what they write, by looking at their webname.

This is my first rant... I am normally pretty loose and free, but when it comes to writing, or literature, I would think that you would want to step it up, and I am highly disappointed by what I am seeing here.

I understand what you mean by this. I mean, I don't want to read anything where all they do is say "Hi! I'm ....... and I'm new!"

I mean, seriously, we know what your "name" is, and that you're new. I mean, a simple "I like to ... ..., ... , ...., and ...." and some other things they like would help them make friends a lot quicker and help them avoid isolation. Otherwise, someone else would have to go out of their way to find all this out about the person.

I, myself, did not have an introduction... No, no. Never would. People know all they need to know about me (if not, more). I mean, is it so hard to take five minutes and tell a paragraph about yourself? For some people it might be, and I'm not talking about "laziness" as an excuse. Honestly, I didn't even know there were forums until like... ... A while back ago (then, it was too late to make an indtroduction).

BuuuUt, before I bore you (which, I tend to do a lot in rants), I will end my post. But so you do know; I do agree with this rant, it's not that hard to say simple things that can start small talk. I mean, we come here to find, as you said, "something worth reading" and we don't want to see what you can post on your first time in the Shout Boxes. >_>

Exactly! You worded it better than I did in the original post! That is precisely what I mean... we want to hear maybe, what your favorite films are, even... maybe your hobbies, if you want. Not the fact that you like to tell us things we already know, because you want replies.

Just so you know: This is my first rant, I am normally quite loose about things. i don't see how you people can stand to look at one-liner "Hi! My name is so-and-so and I joined Balto Source because I love Balto! :love:"

Well, to each his own... what I'm getting at is that people shouldn't be wasting our and their time posting things we already know... we KNOW you're new, and we KNOW you like Balto or wolf-related creatures. I think it's pointless to ignore the horrific writing skills those people who post bios like that are demonstrating. It's pointless, and who really cares what you have to say, if it's a one-liner that we know all about by looking at your webname?

Isnt that a bit harsh?Would you like to have someone cherry come onto the board without bad attitudes? Maybe their shy and don't wanna tell much about themselves.

Well, at least it is for us people who actually want to know who are joining this site... and for the people who should be praised for writing decent bios.

Without bad attitudes, yes... and cheery. But no, I don't think we need people who'll type things like, "Thx 4 letting me join pplz, this site is so kewl, I luv balto!" That's just nonesense, and it's what I see in bios... maybe not as badly written, but underneath it all, that's what it is. Learn to write, poeple! So many aspire to be authors, but if you can't even write a decent bio...
