On the Internet Movie Database (IMDB) it was indicated that Balto 1 had one continuity problem. According to the site, after the bear falls through the ice, and the huge chunk inverts and traps Balto underwater, the hole where the bear fell through vanishes, which becomes evident when the shot pulls back to the shore. However, I believe I have seen the hole; it seems to appear on-screen as a flat spot where there is no snow, just beyond the big chunk that traps Balto (basically, the hole is farther towards the background than the chunk). See, in other scenes, especially the one where Steele, Nikki, Kaltag and Star are howling, the forced perspective gets a little weird, and I think that's why the hole looks like a flat section of ice; the forced perspective doesn't allow a high enough angle to see water. There is actual proof that the hole wasn't forgotten; right after Boris sneezes the icicles off his head, there is a shot from above looking down at the ice. Here, the crack that produced the big chunk that flipped over on Balto can be seen reaching off-screen, confirming that the hole is present, but simply isn't visible from that shot. Does anyone else have an opinion on this? I'm in serious denial of Balto 1 having any goofs, so I want to see what others think.

I try not to look for bloopers but I did read about this one... I guess I agree with it really. I saw no hole.

well the hole where they popped out was there. and the hole he went in at was behind it. cuz remember Boris slid up it like a ramp landing on Luk. who was next to log where Balto was bla bla bla anyway. we only get one view of the ice and using everything i just said up there . lol. it means the hole is behind the escape hole. so it just cant be seen there i salved the problem xD. dang i have good memory lol.

That's a good point, Togo, that he should have been able to swim to the hole. I heard a pretty good explanation for that once, but I don't remember who or where it came from. I may just be mistaking a bald spot on the ice for the hole. I'll look hard when I watch it next!

I dont notice Balto bloopers since the animation was so well put together, Better than WQ was made to be.
