No this is not about copying artwork it's about copying characters!I have read bios for people's character then found another bio that the character looks exactly like the other person's and has the same first two letters in it's name.I mean white wolves with green eyes are popular and a lot of them do begin with SA some i'm alright with a lot of people's character looking like mine but what really bugs me is if I'm on another site like DA and there's artwork stolen and you know i'm thinking"Well it could be them..." then I look in their profile and find a link to there DA and it's not it!It does kinda relate in a way.I'm really sick of seeing copied artwork and characters! I was just on the other day and reading some bios in a art prensentations then I moved on to some of the other galleries and found one that had a past that kinda related and some of the same looks.Am I the only one who's noticed this? In some issues the character has the same name,same breed,same eye color/fur color/markings, and i'm sure that somewhere it is against the rules!I'm sure you all think this topic is very pointless but it just angers me to see people who can't think of their own characters so they copy off others!It really annoys me a lot and I wish for it to stop.I know I can't be the only one who's seen this because that would be impossible....right?I think this should be a new rule and for all you people who copy off other characters i'm not trying to be rude or anything but get real and stop copying!!!!I could go on about this forever and I think it will Most copycats out there usually copy of Pample's artwork but change it and make it their characters i'm ok with that because usually they change the angle that your seeing the character from but what I mean is copy the character completly is make it the same breed,related history,Kinda the same looks,Connected Personalties,and the same skills I'm tired of logging on everyday and seeing copied art and characters and plot ideas for fan fics.Somebody said that they were going to write a fan fic like mine but with their character but luckily they never got to it or they're just making it the second I type this I was on this site when it was a lot better I just didn't have this one account i'm using right now trust me it was waaaaaaaaaay better and not so many ideas were taken and used.I liked the site when it was smaller and didn't have so many people on it.I have left the site two times and came back when my friends started to tell me things were getting and better and No they were getting worse!!!!I think they just wanted me back but i'll take a leave a third time and this time I might not come back.I know mods have more important stuff to worry about and i'm not trying to sound immature but I just can't stand this stuff anymore Steet himself could probably say that the site was better when it had fewer people but I won't talk for him.

This is so annoying and I'm so angry because some of my older dead character's designs have been used.Again, I am not trying to be immature and I know I might be repeating the same things over and over but i'm just trying to get across the point to people that it's not right to copy other people's character!atleast these people should get a warning or banning for a few days.Sorry mods if i'm getting very annoying about this it's just that this topic has never been discussed and I think it should be! So many copycats out there so little caught that need to be.All it starts with is usually they get bored so they look in art galleries and they like the art so they're like I wanna try that! So they draw it then they start doing it again and again until they get caught and then they complain about being banned and keep complaining then when you unban them they start doing it again!There is no way too stop them except for a life long ban but then they would flame mods even more so that causes more problems because they email they're friends about it then we lose more people to bans.I'm not saying that standing up for your friends is bad it's just important for them to know when to step down because getting their friends banned dosn't help anything!!!They need to get a brain and think for themselves!!!!!!Why do they do this?I dunno.It's hard to explain how much anger this gives me!Please just somebody atleast try to stop it most rants do not happen for a little while but I hope this one becomes a big topic and does happen soon.Mainly this is about the characters not the fan art but it connects to the fan art.Tell me your me what you think.

I agree with you 100% and these people really do need to stop.

I don't think its right copying other's chracters with nearly the same name. Why can't they just come up with their own characters? It is very annoying. XD

It's wrong no matter what it is. It's wrong to steal, characters, art, ideas anything, it's wrong to steal period.

All people on BS should know by now NOT to steal or copy in any form. It's just not fair for the people who HAVE creative minds WHO are not ******* like the thieves are.

You're going to find this anywhere you go. Its not going to stop. There isn't really 'originality' in this world anymore. I've seen this before, and I try not to do it myself. But your going to find ideas and like them and work them into your own - even if it really isn't 'their own'. Take my character Takona for example. She is based offa many things. She is mainly based from this idea I got from the movie 'Fluke', but I took it farther. And then I decided to put a little... hmmm, how to put it? 'Humanistic actions' into it, I supose. But we all get ideas from somewhere. But it is a shame when someone goes and copies right offanother persons char'.

Sometimes you have to think about some stuff, like character designs (meaning markings), accessories, spots and all aren't copyrighted or such, it's free to use. I surely won't agree with the thing that "stealing Character designs" is good but you can't judge them.
And you can't view the entire cyber world to see each new drawing's character design and prevent them to not doing this. It's... really unreachable.. you can't stop.
If it's really that bothering.. ignore them.
Everyone has one or more sources of inspiration meaning same persons.....

Some of my characters where based off of dogs from GDW and my human characters were based on my friends xD so it's okay to do stuff like that but not really really copy it from somebody else.

That's kinda a touchy subject, outright stealing is without a doubt wrong (purposely taking someone elses idea/style and calling it your own) but totally original ideas are hard to come by nowadays, with so many artists completely original ideas are hard to come up with and often someone does ask the "creator" first but does'nt explain that clearly enough and it all gets blown completely out of proportion and everyone ends up upset by it, best thing to do is just add watermarks in your work and make sure that everytime you post a pic you say clearly that this is yours (as long as it actually is mind you) and then hope.

Though, I do agree with you, they won't stop it.

As long as there are new, better artists with better characters than they have, they will keep it up.

BUT; there is a difference between stolen and inspired characters. Like, my Whispers was inspired by Drop Dead Gorgeous, along with my breed GWos (Gothic Wolves of Silence). And well, I noticed how someone's 'new breed' looked a lot like mine (same triangular fur pattern, same spikes on both sides [like an alligator's or crocodile's]).

All we can really do is push them to be more creative and "original" (like Cat butchered me about and I finally took her advice).

Otherwise; there's not much more we can do. Because you never know what copyrights are real and who just says "I have a gov't (government) patent/copyright on this picture/character!"

There will be such liars, and well, people lie. People are greedy. And to be honest; Greed helps the world go around. Because without some greed, we would all basically kill ourselves just to be nice to someone else.

And to end my post, I will make a repetitive statement.

All we can really do is push them to be more creative and "original".
