Well, I was on http://www.wolfquest.org today and I they repeatedly stated that they were trying to make it (the game) as realistic as possible, so people could learn about wolf habits. But, I guess I generally thought of people already knowing alot about wolves.
I was wondering, how many of you here would consider yourself wolf experts, or perhaps you know a lot more than other people?
Would you mind sharing some facts, just for the heck of it? I have read many wolf books but they never go into really deep details.
One thing I know is when wolves are pups, their parents go hunting, and eat after they catch their prey. Upon returning, their young offspring would nip the parent's muzzle or lips to indicate they were hungry. When this action is performed, the parent regurgitates (vomits) half-digested food for the pup to eat, much like birds. I think this is introduced a little after the pup is born, and before actual meat.

Well, I know that how high the tail of the wolf is raised, it is showing it's ranking. For example, an alpha would have his tail raised high,on the other hand, the omega would raise it tail slightly above the ground.
And I'm a little bit of an expert on wolves. I've been reading and studying sbout them ever since I was 6.

I've heard that to avoid being in a fight, lower-ranking wolves would lie low to the ground or put their tail between their legs-this showed they were submissive and the higher-ranking wolf would back off.

Would you mind sharing some facts, just for the heck of it? I have read many wolf books but they never go into really deep details. Not a single person who posts here, or is a member of this site, could claim to be a "wolf expert" unless they are formally schooled, degreed and certified as a wolf biologist. Anything ANYONE else says here is subject to doubt and scrutiny (me or anyone else). Sure, they can read about it on a web page or in a book, or hear and see it in a documentary, but that hardly qualifies them as a "wolf expert". I don't mean to come off as sarcastic, but that's just the cold, hard fact of it. Yes, yes, but the books we read are not from research by biologists? Just complete guesses? And I said "consider yourself an expert" which means, would you say that you know alot? Also, the term expert isn't used strictly for that meaning; when most people use the word they use it like this. Quote: Hey, Bobby, could you help me with this assignment? You are a math expert, you know.
In that case, Bobby is not a mathematician but someone who is familiar with math and is skilled in math. I use the term the same way here.

Okay, firstly, let's get on the same page, hmm? Reading a book by an expert does not MAKE you an expert. It makes you (IF you internalize it) informed. Would reading a couple of books written by wolf experts grant you entry into a wolf preserve to work with (or ON) them? No...of course not. Anyone who thinks so is deluded. And I don't see anyone having posted with the bottom quote you put in. So what was the point of that? Sarcasm? I wasn't being sarcastic with you...you have no place being sarcastic with me.
What sarcasm? I was adding an example, since you questioned my use of the word. Let's stop discussing the English language and get back to the topic.

Don't call the kettle black, bud.
Could you offer a better example if you were in my place, please?

I agree with Seppala. Not a single person who posts here is a Wolf Expert. I know a LOT about wolves, I will say this. But not a wolf expert. Once gone through school to become a olf biologist, I would have. But still, this is not the point. I know a lot more than most people. I have a shelf filled with books on real wolves. I guess you could call it obsession. I do not know. But if you want to know more about wolves, go to Barns N Nobles. They have some pretty deep wolf books. ;]

Ok, well, I actually said to drop it a few posts ago. And Maya, *sigh*.
keyword: consider. If you consider potato a fruit that doesn't make it true. So if you consider yourself an expert, that does not make it true.
Trust me, I know enough of the English language to know how to USE the word "expert", so please, both of you, shut up about "expert" and get BACK to the topic.
stupidness.
