I agree there's nothing that can be done about it now but that doesn't mean that it wasn't wrong to treat the dogs in such a way.

The soviet military wasn't exactly too carefull with it's human capital, the same probably applies to the animals.
But hey, if it helps win The Great Patriotic War...
Cynical remark: maybe that was just Stalin's way of annoying Hitler: using his precious dogs as weapons to defeat him.

Why does it has to be kamikaze? Popular word perhaps. Anyway, I'm glad that the anti-tank thing is over when the War ended with victory, they lives didn't go to waste, did they? Hey, cheer up, at least Hitler lost the War  , he deserved it.

I agree with the Soviet strategy, except for the fact that it backfired. What would you have them do, run humans under the tanks? That's not logically sound. The Nazis had to be turned back at all costs and that meant doing things that weren't pleasant. Human and animal alike were mobilized by both the Soviets and the other Allied forces to drive the Nazis back and the humans did some pretty bad things. However, the outcome was much better than if the Nazis had won.
Let's remember the words of Sgt. Hartman from Full Metal Jacket.
