Adobe PhotoShop CS3: $649 USD
Upgrade from CS2: $199 USD

Try Corel PhotoPAINT if looking for a good quality program yet at a cheaper price.

check out http://www.wacom.com. A version of Adobe Photoshop Elements and a low-end version of Corel Painter comes with a tablet when you order it.

Photoshop can be purchased for a cheaper price off Ebay. But your looking regularly well over one hundred dollars. Even for CS2 or CS1 my best advice would be Adobe Photoshop Elements. It is much cheaper then Photoshop but has the same features. It can be purchased even at Walmart.

Eh, I'm just excited that I pre-ordered a copy of Adobe CS3 Master Collection at corporate price and am waiting for it to come in this June...

Almost forgot Adobe PhotoShop Elements existed, but I agree that if you want a program that's almost as efficient as PhotoShop except being without select features, go with PhotoShop Elements. Likewise, Corel PhotoPAINT or Paint Shop are also good software tools, but keep in mind PhotoPAINT costs about $100 USD (for the X3 version I believe)

Photoshop isn't really an art program moreover for photo editing. It's expensive because were not talking about MS Paint, were talking about professional editing. For someone like you who's an amateur to photoshop I recommend either downloading the 30 trail or purchase Adobe Photoshop Elements. Its practically the same thing. Most beginners at Photoshop wouldn't notice the difference anyway.

what do u mean not notice??
