What do you think of my art?
I know I'm not that good at the backgrounds... any tips are appreciated.
I want to improve my backgrounds as well, as anything you think I may need to...

Quote: This is more than remarkable art Shadow... the only thing I guess I can suggest is more of a question. Have you considered oil pastels? You'd get more details out of the background like that white horse in the back of the two foxes in front of the ranch. Either way, I'd prefer that you didn't change a thing...
I have oil pastels.. but honestly... I've never used it.
I have O_o 3 cases of it.
I'll try that, but I might suck.

I'll try to be a bit more critical than the rest.
You have a very nice sense of shape and coloring, but the brushes you use sometimes seem to big for your details.
SOME of your backgrounds look like you were just tired of painting and rushed through. I would just put more time into the backgrounds.
like just as much as you put into the main figure, so it will pull the image together for a nice finished look.
but you are a very good artist. I wish I was half as talented as you.
is that helpful at all?

And Edge, THANK YOU! I'll try to find a smaller tiped paint brush.
It's not that I rush throught the Backgrounds so much as I just don't do them as much... so... I'm not as good....
but thanks again for the tips.

Hmm...I really like it as well, but you don't seem to want to hear that, so, I shall put myself in critic-mode! XP
Depth. Your characters, your background, everything, is flat. Add some shading, add some tone.
More...um...do you look at pictures when you paint? you should consider looking closer to get a bit more detail in, and try and get the animals a bit more anatomically correct. The eyes of your character are often out of position, and that makes them look either less realistic or more...I dunno...it's just weird...
And their second limbs (ears, too) seem to vanish. They're still there, just make them darker and put them on the other side of the head.
The heads are a little too big for the body as well. Study some anatomy books or something. Maybe trace around a skeleton of one of the animals or something, just until you get the anatomy and depth right in them. Study live stuff...Go to the zoo!! (Pet the fuzzy foxes...until they eat you...then you should probably run...)
I used to go to go to the zoo and draw the wolvies...I'd sit outside the cage for hours...just staring at them(and they'd stare back, of course) so bring a sketchbook (or a...paint...book....)and sit, stare, and sketch(or...paint...Make sure you have plenty of water! XP For the paint, silly! You can sit and dehydrate for all we care!...we being me and the person yapping like a pomeranian next to me...)
Well, there is my criticism...I hope it helps you in some way! XP
KTHXBAI.
Brent (Zex) says bye too.
oh, and in response to your avi...Just because.

^^ thanks you, I know that my backgrounds look falt, and thats what bugs me the most ^^. (thats the tip from you I took to heart... cuz the most of the other things you pointed out I do on perpose ^^)
as for the big heads on my animals, ^^ thats just my style. I don't HAVE to do that... but I just do.
I do know the anatomy of the animals, I'm just not going for perfection with that, actually... I'm odd in this way.... if the pic looks TOO strict to me, I add bigger shapes to the body to throw it off.
as for the eyes.... thats mostly because the type of paint I use. It's VERY thick and covers MOST lines with one stroke... that messes me up a bit...but, it, my fav knid of paint, the color mix so well.
(I will try to make a pic useing ALL of your suggestions, and see if I think it improves it.)
