Ok, here's something that makes me angry. People who enter a topic only to say something along the lines of, "This is stupid, why are we talking about this?"
Here's the real, live deal. No one cares that you think something is dumb. No one cares that you are supposedly so much more mature than the people on here that you are the only one who knows what is interesting and what isn't. If you don't have something intelligent to add to the discussion, just shut up already.
This happens all the time. If you think something is pointless to the degree that it is dadaist, then report it to a mod. Otherwise, keep your ridiculous opinion to yourself!
Here's an idea for you: start your own topic. Talk about foreign market capitalism, or the impact of the Treaty of Versaille, or whatever erudite garbage you think this site is for. Get a clue, folks, this is a website devoted to an ANIMATED CHARACTER! Not everything is going to be at a college level. Deal with it or leave, but whatever you do, give me a break and shut up.
And here's another gem for you: people who insult and put down the opinions of folks before them and the try to qualify it with "Well, that's my opinion". Well, no kidding?! It's your opinion?! I never would have guessed that based on who was posting it! Just because you have an ignorant, ill=formed opinion on something doesn't mean you can just broadcast it for all to hear if it is insulting. Learn to express your feelings in a mature way so that people all feel respected. I too have thought that some people on here were misguided and I've also thought that some of the fiction and art isn't exactly going to tear the bestseller lists a new one. But you know what? I try keep my criticism constructive and helpful, because hurting someone's feelings is rude and annoying. This isn't a debate, and you're not going to change anyone's mind. So speak politely or shut your trap.
It's also great when someone says something like, "I'm in a bad mood " or "I'm just a rude person" as though that were an excuse. I don't care if you're having the worst day on earth or you somehow think of yourself as an insult comic. Don't take out your crappy life on me or anyone else. We didn't do anything to you. Just because someone made you mad today because they wouldn't let you play with the ball at recess is no excuse to come on here and be rude to others. Just don't do it.

dude, you and I think a lot alike.
now it's my turn to give some advice; (ahem)
First off, if you post a rude message in a forum topic, you are a tool plain and simple. No one needs to hear your opinion if all it does is offend people or make them want to kill you. (mine doesn't count, so mleh!)
Second, there is a saying that stats; "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." Ring any bells? No? Thought not. Abide by it. If you have to complaign, then post a topic and rant about the topic you don't like. Let's see how long it takes before your topic is closed for pointlessness.
Finally, if you even decided ahead of time, "yeah, I'm going to be a little jerk today and post rude messages on other people's topic." you need a new hobby. Try thinking about constructive messages to post or do something lese. If you life revolves around making others angry, become a politician or something.

I do not feel like quoting anyone, so I'll just type off the top of my head.
As Bruno said, "We all have our bad days"... Some more than others. No, its not an excuse. Actually, you can really never have an excuse. I mean, some people let others have excuses (such as teachers to students) but I dont really think you should. I have had a dog eat almost all of my work, brought it in, and failed it. (And yes, I know that is like the most COMMON excuse ever, and hardly believable, but the dang dog DID. Gah!).. I was actually GLAD she failed me on the assignment. I didn't desirve another shot. So bah. I know another 'excuse' I have used once before, "Pent up anger". But I did have pent up anger. And its REALLY not good for me to hold it in (so I have been told). Although still, not ideal for excuses.
And yes, I have wrote rather... 'rude', persay, comments. Like on some fanfics. It wasn't MENT to be rude. It was ment to tell them how - for lack of better words -horrible the fanfic was. I, or most people, hardly would say two crapily written paragraphs are a story. I dont know - I dont think the fanfic mods should let them submit it. But there, is my opinion. Now its not nessicarily 'nice', but so what? Normally when I leave someone a comment (generally on fanfictions) its not MENT to be nice. But a LOT of people offend SO easily. Its rediculous! Tell people who are 'rude' to grow up! Jeez, tell the whiners to grow up too! Although I *have* had PM's about my comments (from the people I generally leave the comment too) and I have EXPLAINED and (sometimes) appoligized about how it is not ment to be rude, but constructive. As in my fanfic gallery says, "Just because I thought your story was crap, doesn't mean to stop writing."... And I don't believe I have ever actually told someone their story was crap.
And I'd like to say something to Silver_balto's "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." Well, if everyone only said nice things, then a lot of people would never improve on whatever they are doing. Most 'constuctie crit' isn't 100% nice, I know. But I never take it in a bad way. I try to take it to heart to improve.
"Don't open your mouth and cry about it. Put it to pen and paper." - That would refer to those who cannot take an OUNCE of crit. ;] And the last part, Put it to pen and paper, can be varified to fit other things too. Depending on what your crying about.

I absolutely agree that people should be polite about what other people have to say (within reason). Permit me to point out some things. One, just because something is designed to appeal to a young audience does not mean it can't or shouldn't have content that can interest older viewers. It is possible to write college-level stuff that refers to grade-school entertainment. Example: I wrote what my teacher said was an "A+, college level" paper on obesity which referred to, among others, Penguin from the Batman comics and Jabba the Hutt from Star Wars. And I've been showing my mom some episodes of an old cartoon I used to like which I found on YouTube, and she enjoys them (trust me, my mom liking a cartoon is higher praise than an Emmy Award). So a reminder to those who think kid stuff is just for kids, you'd better think again.
But to play Devil's Advocate for a moment, sometimes people may have a well-formed opinion based on solid facts, making it a fairly valid point. For instance, any negative critic of a "Jenna leaves Balto for Steele" story would have untold numbers of reasons to say that it was not a good or realistic storyline because the facts are all against it (of course, facts tend to indicate that dogs don't talk to geese or polar bears either, but we'll overlook that for the moment). However I think it's still safe to say that critics should be positive whenever possible. But sometimes you have to hit hard to get the point across. Oh, and for the record, saying, "Speak politely or shut your trap" is kind of rude in itself.

Though I do agree about rude comments/opinions offending, you have to remember that this is the internet. It is possible to lose touch with reality by being so bent on a website, you tend to think it's real.
Take Yahoo! Chat role plays. There are some (many) people who will have "their" character(s) fall for another, and as the "characters" go on through the "relationship" they may tend to think that they are in love with the person behind the monitor. Errr.... No.
But my only question to this is... this:
Can a person honestly expect all individuals to respect their own opinion(s)/ethic(s)?
Well, this is the internet, and there are thousands of opinions out there, you can't expect all of them to be what you want them to be, right?

Oh ya....make a topic in the rant board about how you dislike another topic. I wonder how well that would fly. It would be locked before the one you were talking about. Its easier just to pm a mod about problems. Topics for that type of thing are un-necessary. I do this type of thing alot when I see a topic that is very similar to a one awhile back.Isn't it easier to ask the MODS if a topic has already been made? Instead of going with it anyways.Especially the wolf one I saw. I think its pretty darn obvious that there has probably been a wolf topic before. Come on now this is a balto site. Finally I do not conside my above thoughts rude. This is the rant board so I shall rant and if you cannot take my constructive critism, than do not reply back! Its simple. I'm not rude at all. I have alot of friends that are mods so partially why I point out a not so new topic is because I know kari and most of the other mods will probably read it too. Especially Tibby. XD She stalks me.SO I'm done.
TO HRRYNRM: Notice how I never said anything negative on the other wolf topic on there. If the topic you got all annoyed at me about for making a "rude" comment was better thought out I wouldn't have said anything at all.

I do agree with that. But yet, some kid, anyone, can come in and start a site-wide war/argument with three words.
The thing is this; we should respect everyone for their own words/comments and hope they know what they're talking about (it's obvious when they don't). And if they do step 'over the line', we have moderators for that.

Uh, avoidable means that its just common courtesy that you not be rude No one cares if anyone has a bad day, there's no excuse to just be plain mean.

I agree with this rant because, well, even if you've had a bad day, people shouldn't have to suffer from your bad attitude. No, we don't want that. And if you need to take your anger out, don't do it here and make us all mad. Like Dingo said, it's HOW you express anger.

All right, I was just pointing what I thought you mean (again, I misunderstood).
I know the feeling, though. Someone was swearing in the rp and I politely asking him to stop. He continued, telling me to 'get off his case'. Later, he said it was because he was angered at his little brother for not wrestling properly.
I have come in when I'd had a bad day (this morning, I could have died with a freak air-pack accident, but I also made the same mistake to a kid who isn't even 15), and when I start to get upset or someone does something I know will bother me, I simply say "I'm not in the mood" and sometimes, why.
I actually don't understand how a lot of people feel better by hurting someone else, exspecially over the internet. -_-
