Any goat lovers on this site?

Today, we purchased our very first goat. The breeder wanted the milk for herself, and so she sold all the kids her does dropped.

We bought a particular little doeling. Her name is Shaena (Hebrew for 'beautiful'). She's half Saanen(sire)/half Nubian(dam). She's only 2 weeks old and still requires daily bottle feeding. She's being kept in a converted basement with 4 of my large hens (Sarafina, Esperanza, Owlie and Fifi). She's taken quite a liking to me, even though she's never been handled by her previous owner. She follows me everywhere and loves to be held and cuddled.

Because I'm a first time goat owner, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Shaena is a relativly healthy kid, but her bulbusy nose (possible insect sting) and frequent unrinating troubles me (it could be because she's nervous in her new home). Otherwise, she's been wormed and is a lovely little goat :D

I personally do not like goats because they make too much noise and their eyes creep me out. I know its not their fault.....but I just find them too be rather frightening.

I absolutely love goats! Your are instore for so many suprises and good times. We own 9 of these unique creatures and All but three are expecting kids this summer. Their names are: Moma Zoe, Chloe, Diablo, Angel, Brownie, Pearl, Bambi, Tinky, and Christina.

They make great pets and are quite loving. All of ours are does, except Diablo. He is a whether. We've owned 'em since 2005, and I don't know what I would do with out them. If you need any help with your new goat, feel free to pm me. check my profile for my website on my goats.

One last thing to remember: I hope you love your new goat. We started off with one as well, but you WILL want more, and you cannot have just one goat by itself, you need atleast 2...

No argueing with you about wanting more! We're hoping for at least 2 more dairy does and a few pygmies, too :D

Shaena is super smart for a baby. She sure knows how to suck up to our landlord  She also loves to hang out with my wolf hybrid, Indo (that's truley a sight to behold  )
