Yes, this is going to a lovely little rant by me, and by thunder someone will listen to me for once instead of ignoring me and defying the rules like always! How difficult is it to follow a simple rule dictated to you by a leader or, in this case, the webmaster of a site, especially when it's stupifyingly simple to obey? Which rule that's broken am I referring to? How about the one that says, and I quote (literally):steet wrote: Signatures in a RolePlay Sigs are unsightly in RolePlays. So in the interests of making it easier for people to read a RolePlay, please turn off your sig when posting. Just use the ‘Post Reply’ button, or edit your post after you make it. But just leaving your sig on neither looks good, nor assists your fellow RPers in reading the story as it unfolds.
Why does no one ever listen? Are they ignorant? Are they insolent? Do they have absolutely no respect for the rules that Steet made, or for those of us that try to enforce them? Because that last one sounds pretty true, especially when I see whiny complaints of, "I don't know how to turn it off," or "Why does it even matter?" Well here's a hint: It's distracting and annoying and Steet said NO! That's why!
And as for not knowing how, Claymore made a lovely little moving graphic, displayed above, that shows you exactly how to turn your sig on and off when you are in the posting window (aka, the one you type in.) All you have to do is mimic that graphic and click the little box that has the words "Attach signature (signatures can be changed in profile)" to the right.
So now no one has any excuse for disobeying this rule, save for complete disrespect and idiocy. I'm getting tired of repeating myself on this and I know many others who are irritated as well. If anyone wants to disagree, fine, but let me say before hand that this is my opinion and also a small statement of fact. Therefore unless you can produce some outrageously convincing evidence as to why I might be wrong, I stand by whay I say and there's little, if anything, you can do to change my attitude about this. Rant over, for now.
*****LOOK! I CHECKED the box that says "Attach signature" !!!******

I also think that you should warn these people once, explain them all this, and if they still do it, just delete their messages until they understand.
I would like to precise that I didn't write this rule...But one of the RPG mods (maybe you?) did. Or someone else send me these rules to add. I'm not much involved in everything concerning RPG. So I wouldn't judge whether this is really annoying or not.

I don't RP but I do sometimes like to read the stories as they go along and yeah, it is annoying, it's kinda hard to read 'em properly with pictures in the way and with text in the way too.
Even if you don't much like it when people rant or just have'nt bothered reading the rules you could at least show some consideration for fellow members by just clicking one little box, it's not hard and to prove it I'll follow Claymore's little animation that Aniu_Blade pu at the top of her post to show it's really simple to do and you'd better appreciate it coz I love my siggy!!!

You didn't? Oh...ok, I didn't know. It was in the guideline sticky that has been there ever since before I became the mod, so I guess I naturally assumed you wrote it. Sorry about that.
I've done a lot of warning and yeah, I think it's pretty much come down to the last straw. If people do keep abusing it with their gaping pictures in the sigs, I'm going to start deleting their posts (after thoroughly warning them first). But I've explained time after time to people who have been here for years the two ways to do this. I won't mention names, but sometimes people just don't learn, or seem to listen. If I don't see improvement, I will start warning a little less and deleting a little more.

technically, not everyone is guilty of leaving them on purposely.
Not everyone has an impecable memory, so some of us (even me) do forget that the sig is on. (I, however, am a bad example because I don't RP)
but still, memory is a factor you cannot take into account. There should be like, an alert that pops up before you enter the RP forum, and in order to even post, you have to agree. Then the sig will be turned off automatically.
yo steet, is that suggestion a possibility?

I leave my signature off all the time, they are REALLY annoying, especially when someone gets a really big sig and it's animated and all that junk. It slows down my page -_-

I dont mean to bring up an 'old topic', but I 100% agree with this. It is SO annoying. It takes all but a simple CLICK to turn off the dang signatures. What annoys me less, is the ones that only have like... a small wall of text - such as mine. Just some words, nothing more. Its the people with the BIG signatures that bothers me so terribly much. If I forget to turn of my signature, you know what I do? I go and click "EDIT", then I click my signature OFF. I even turn it off when I post long messages sometimes. But at least people could TURN it off when roleplaying. It drives me insane. Two seconds. TWO FRIGGIN' SECONDS. Thats it. Click it off. You forget? Go back and edit it. It ISN'T hard. This has something I have ALWAYS inforced in my roleplays. I would TELL people to go back and edit it so it was off. I even once had a case where I asked one to leave the roleplay because he refused to turn it off when he posted. Silly? Sill for him? Or for me? Either way, I made him leave. This rule should be enforced more, if you ask me.

So why are you posting? (and even double-posting!)
