Who here is old enough to have played Wolfenstein 3-D. I'm talking the awesome computer version with 6 different episodes, not the crummy freeware one with 1 episode or the abomination that was the Game Boy one. I remember when this game came out back in 1992, my dad played it all the time. I started playing around 1995 or so and I've been loving that game ever since. I consider it to be the best first-person shooter around, and that includes things like Halo and Doom. This one beats them all. There was just something about the simplicity of the game coupled with the fact that it was reasonably difficult and the fact that you got to blast Nazis for hours on end. But don't take my word for it, let's discuss Episode 3: Die, Fuhrer, Die just so all you who haven't played know what it's all about.
You are the toughest marine around and you're on a do or die mission during the closing days of World War II. You are to infiltrate Hitler's massive underground bunker and kill the Fuhrer, ending his reign of maniacal terror. You need to battle your way through officers, soldiers, and crack teams of SS Bodyguards to find your way to Hitler. His guards are trained to fight to the last man, and Hitler himself has built a huge metal suit armed with chainguns. He's not going to go quietly. It's a suicidal mission, but you just might have the guts to pull it off. Kill Hitler, end the war, save the world!
And that's just one episode. Holy crow, that game is so friggin' sweet! Who else has played it?
ME !!!
