It's not about looks. It's about whether this dog is the right dog for you. Looks shouldn't matter at all when adopting a dog.
Are you ready for a dog for it's whole life, which can be over ten years? He has a herding breed in him, and herding breeds are ACTIVE. Can you take this dog for a walk everyday? Play with em for about ATLEAST three hours everyday? Feed and water him every day? Time for this dog. Do you have school, plans later on in life, ect? He's deaf, so are you okay with that? Do you have enough money for this dogs vet bills, adopting cost, toys, food, and such? Most of all: Did you do your research on dogs? Which isn't just spending about a hour reading a dog book. I researched dogs for three years, and still don't have my own dog.
Sorry, it's just too many people get dogs without thinking. I am not saying you would be a bad owner, just making sure. If you think you can handle him, did your research and all that, then go for it.

Yeah, if I had my choice, I'd go with Angel or Rusty. They are both cuter than the dickens! Of course, the previous two people are right, you need to select a dog that is right for you, not just one that is cute or nice. Do your research, think long and hard on it, and then make a wise, informed, intelligent decision. I don't think you necessarily need to take years to make up your mind, especially if you decide on a dog that doesn't need a huge amount of mantainence or attention. I think that is excessive to say the very least. The dog you're looking at might have died of natural causes by then. I would recommend you sit down and plan a budget to see if you can afford this animal, including possible vet trips and boarding if you go on vacation to a place that doesn't accept dogs. Think about where you're going to be living in 2-10 years. Can you take the dog with you? How much time can you spend with the animal and if you work, who will take care of the dog during the day? Years may be a bit too much time for planning, however, a dog is not a snap decision that you can come to overnight.
A lot of times, people make emotional decisions. This is true for animals and for possessions. It's easy to say, "Oh, heck, I'll just get that dog/TV/car/house because I want it. However, many times that dog isn't a good fit for you and you both end up miserable or you can't pay for that fancy car and the bank takes it away from you. Emotional decisions and purchases are your worst enemy in the world.
But come on folks, what a dog looks like can play at least some role in your decision...

Yes I have done my research. I know im ready for a dog like this beacause I live on aranch with my other dogs. And i have had a dog with disabilities, Rosie, she was a blind German Shepard and man did she love and worship to herd my cattle. She was Awesome at it too..R.I.P!
So anyways Im really sure that beethoven is the one for me! And Im sure he'll love my 150 acres to roam, and have a well balanced meal!
