Ok, so I know some HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, and really basic JavaScript (perhaps making a clock but that's about it).

I've been making design after design and I finally selected one that doesn't look like Balto Source.

Every time I list my ideas I find them mimicking Balto Source. Not just the basic stuff that every site has- I mean I'm thinking of a rant board, articles, "What's New?", etc. I also took at least one idea from Fluke's Tribute.

I did however make some of my own ideas but they are a lesser amount then the ideas on the two fansites mentioned.

I was just wondering, could anyone suggest some sort of thing I could add of my own, without making the coding super complex? I even copied the random image idea on the banner of the site. Arrgh!!!

Just anything remotely useful.

Also, this is just random, but I might as well throw it in.

Is the Iditarod the first Saturday of every March?

I don't think there is anything you can do that is that original anymore unless you create a new form of coding no one has ever seen and is better than anything we have ever browsed before. E.g. that changing image thing has been around for years on different sites, not just Balto ones

I wouldn't worry about it really.

I would suggest thinking up different names though at least, words like 'Rant', 'What's New' and 'articles' can easily be changed. In fact I never even heard of the word 'article' being applied to these fan created bits of info until Steet did it.. (so these would have gone by a different name before BS like.. ooh I just thought of one but I might save that name for my site ) but now everyone copies it!
