Bah, go ahead and name him Adolf, you know you want to. Of course, you might want to change it to Dolf or Dolph to avoid the obvious Hitler connotations that come with the name Adolf. Seriously, I wish he hadn't ruined that name for everyone.
Adolf also means "noble wolf" not "lone wolf". For "lone wolf" you're going to want the name Einar, which is Norse and means "lone warrior" or "battle leader". In German it means "one who leads through the sword".

No, as I said, it doesn't mean "lone wolf". It means "Noble wolf". So yes, his name, literally, meant Noble Wolf Hitler. My real name means "victory of the people". The name Tyler means "tile maker". The name Fletcher means "arrow maker". The name DaBrickashaw, well, that doesn't mean anything. Names are weird like that.

adolf is definately not something i want a wolf to be called if it sounds like it refers to hitler.

When I'm coming up with a character name, I usually pick a language I like and use it to translate words that fit with the character. I'm rather a fan of the Japanese language myself, so if you'd like, here are some suggestions for potential good-sounding names that would fit with your character, and what they mean.
Koduku- Solitude
Hitori- Alone
Ato- Scar
Kuroke- Dark Fur
You can play around a bit with words in different languages here if you like:

Well, it does mean 'lone wolf', so technically that's what his name means. I mean, my full name technically means beloved mountain top. O.o

I picked Jay, cuz I particularly like that bird, plus it suits either gender. I didn't pick Adolf, cuz lets face it, it reminds everyone of Hitler XD (well, almost everyone) Shetani reminds me too much of sh!taki mushrooms, and Achai seems difficult to pronounce. Falcon may be good as well because they're not the most sociable birds in the world, but neither are Jays. But Falcon is a more common name for a character than Jay, personally.
EDITL I can't believe it edited the name of those mushrooms -_-
