Could you read that? 'Shtbox Rnt'? What the heck is that? Its what I see all to often. And even more often people posting more than the allowed amount.

Okay. So like.. If I say one thing to anyone, someone is gonna ban me. This person told me. XD And yet the mods sit there, and do nothing. And then, one of the mods happened to say "We all have to abid by the same rules" or something. WELL NO ONE SEEMS TO BE DOING SO! >.<

I mean, the rules apply here and on the site. People speak SMS lang allllll the time. And all these people (INCLUDING MODS) are all like "YEAH ITS SO ANNOYING!".. Well, no one is doing anything. I tried, and nearly got banned for it. I wasn't being A 'mod'... I was reminding people of the rules, and that they'd get banned for it if they continue to break this rule (or rules). Well, it that makes ME a Mod wannabe, then FINE. You mod's aren't doing a good enough job.

I have sat there and WATCHED mod's break the rules - and watched them watch other people. I mean, it may not be a big deal to THEM, but these people are doing it CONSTANTLY.

Roleplaying is forbidden, right? I LOVED when no one even did the stupid "*laughs*" or "*hugz*" or whatever. That was simply amazing. 'Cause I mean, whats wrong with people just TALKING? Where in the heck did THAT go out of style?

But see. I was there. I was there when Steet declaired it TWO words or LESS. Not three. Not four. Not six. Yet, you watch people do that ALL the time. Eeee-gad!

And SMS. That is just as constant. I sit here, looking at the freakin' screen, and see this "Y do U hate ur socks" or something. Okay. I have seen WORSE. But its still ANNOYING.

And no one does ANY thing about it. Nothing. No warnings. No talking too. Nothing. NOTHING. And it bothers me. Because, awhile ago this was not a problem. We have more mods now then we did THEN. So, why is this such a problem now? Has everyone stopped caring?

"Oh look... someone is making an 'action' that is more than two words. But do I care? No. It doesn't matter. Let them break the rules."

I KNOW there is a VIP for me to hide in, but its dead. And SOME of those annoying people who INSIST on 'roleplaying/actioning' all the time go there. Or its dead. The shoutbox used to be SAFE. Not anymore. Not even the VIP.

Oh, and what bothers me most - that even with this, people still wont care. They will go on disobeying, because the mods dont care. Or are to 'busy' to bother with them. And even more so - someone will probably change it or something to make people ALLOWED to do that. Do you know how annoying THAT would be?

And I am sure a lot of people are like "JUST LEAVE THEN!"... Yeah, I'd love to. This place is more addicting than a drugs. I mean... Its like a druggie attempting to go sober... ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. o_O And second... I can only talk to like a LOT of people HERE... And I wouldn't leave them unless they suddenly got MSN. XD...

I HAD to rant about this. I'd LIKE to see something done before I blow, but I doubt anything will be - Thats BaltoSource for you.

I agree with you on the SMS. Even on the forums I see improper grammar and spelling. Some people don't even use proper puncuation. Sometimes, I can't even understand what they're saying...it's annoying.

As for rping in the sb, I think it's bad as well.

Well...I don't consider roleplaying on the shout boxes too big of an offense (unless of course, people are abusing the privelage). On that part, I suppose it just depends on the mod. I tend to be a little more lenient on those kinds of matters, since they don't really bother me (if used sparingly). The same goes for SMS. But...okay. Since you think we're not doing that great of a job, we can tighten our leash if you want, Maya. Is that what you want?

I want people to follow the dang rules. And Cat, if that means being a Nazi, then so be it. People sit there and DO abuse the rules because some mods are lienant. When Catadventure and Loz and Salty where the only mods, it was nice. Now there are all these mods. And the site is falling to pieces. This place is gonna die if something isn't done.

And all you do is sit and laugh. None of you care. And it is disappointing.

I totaly agree with you Maya. It is written plainly in the rules that you are not allowed to use SMS, yet people still get away with it. What kind of message is that sending? That the rules aren't really inforced? That they are just there for the sake of being there in case anyone WANTS to follow them? It is dissapointing.

I've told people before not to do those things on the shoutbox, but did they listen? No. Because I'm not a mod over the shoutbox what I said didn't matter to them. So I've given up. People like that just need to leave or be banned. Whichever floats their dumb boat.

But I hate when people RP in the shoutbox. Is it so hard to go to the RP box where you are supposed to RP?! Not really. Not unles you are stupid or something. At times I've seen more conversation in the RP box than the regualar shoutbox. I can't even begin to decribe how that made me feel anger wise.


That comment I found a little offensive. Nazi's were evil and killed thousands of people. It's just wrong to compare being a mod to being a Nazi. I probably wouldn't have found this nearly as offensive if I weren't part German, but all the same, it is... Letting the rules side like that really isn't a laughing matter, either...

Thank you Tibb! Thank you VERY much. I am GLAD you agree. For god sakes. If only the other mods could have enough sense as HER... Then MAYBE we would have a more peaceful place to chat. Because frankly, this place is not like it was. And I am not talking about two-three years ago. I am talking about not even a year ago. But sense then we get all these mods who are like "Oh, I let them do this. But other mods wont." Thats not how its supose to work. If the mods can't agree on how things should be done by EVERY mod, then they should not be mods.

The rules wheren't MADE to be broken. They were made to keep order.

Follow the dang rules. Hmm...Well, know this: We are mods, not gods. (Hey, that rhymed!! That should be our slogan!! ...Err....I mean, ahem...) We can't control the way people type, and none of us can be on the watch every 24/7/4/12. I can't tell you what will and won't bother you, but if what DOES bother you is legal, then there's nothing much you can do about except...well, rant. 1-2 worded RPs are fine so long are they are limited, but if you are bothered by them, just turn your head the other way. Even I roleplay sometimes. Just to add empasis on what I say:

Now for SMS. You say don't do it. Heck, *I* say don't do it. If everyone could type with proper grammar, punction, and spelling, I would consider this a perfect society. Unfortunately, that's not the case. And as you so like to point out (Maya), this IS a kids' site. Not everyone knows as much as everyone else. So what do they do? They guess. I think typing in SMS is fine, so long as you get your point through:




...Don't get me wrong, I do look down at SMS, and prefer people type more correctly instead of slandering our brilliant English language. But wouldn't you agree we can pretty much see the same differnce between what the two are trying to say?

But you say it is not allowed. First off, you can't control what people type. If they're used to writting in SMS, it's gonna take a little time to suddenly break the habit due to that little rule that says not to do it. And again, if what bothers you is allowed, then you just gotta learn to cope with it.

I agree with ya 100% Maya, I hate SMS language, my brother uses it when he writes things all the time too and it drives me nuts!!
Personally, I don't care if they're new and that is their excuse for using and they say "Oh I'm really sorry I did'nt know I could'nt post using SMS language" then they get off scot free, I don't care!! They should've read the rules before joining the site, the link to the rules is everywhere!! Steet even puts a link to them in his welcome message to new members on the forums but they just ignore them!!!

Thats not very nice. No offence, but if you think BaltoSource is like this then why are you still here? And I haven't actually seen the Mods use SMS. As I am a mod I can see the Mod's shoutbox and I haven't seen a glipse off SMS launguage. So can you be more precise about who is using it?

As steet mentioned at his "introduction" from the site, any errors in language can be corrected. Look nobody's perfect, and I find a little this thingy offesning, It has allready been a thread about SMS language, if they don't want to stop. You can't force them. Also you can't say "I WILL BAN YOU IF YOU USE SMS" Nah..that'd be one of more reasons people would say "You're unfair".



Mods Talking SMS? Hmmm.. I dunno Myself isn't, but hey like these "gtg" and such aren't so sms :S If someone's ina rush and they're time is worth they must hurry, don't they? I'd be happy if they say at least gtg before they're leaving.( okay this was about that short "sms" word) But in rest? I haven't seen any Mods speaking like that.


What does that suppose to mean?
Yes RP is FORBIDDEN on the regular shoutbox, but you can use MAXIMUM 3 words. If I am wrong, then I am sorry, I don't really get the sense of RP.
I always knew that RPing is such as the Forums RP... but chating "online"? I mean face to face?

I'm beginning to tolerate SMS, but it drives me crazy when they say 'w8 up' or 'wut^' or anything like that, 'u', 'g2g', 'brb' and 'wb' don't bother me, but I hate when people replace letters with numbers just to shorten the words.

..and when people are RPing in the RP box, they use more SMS then ANYBODY in the Shout Box does. Also, there's more RPing done in the SB then there is in RP.. it's pathetic, really..

I don't want the mods to ban somebody if they use one SMS word, but they could at least give them a warning, since it seems members only listen to mods these days..

Thats what I was saying, Mods don't speak like that. LOL and GTG are alright I know, and speaking full SMS is just plain annoying, but it says here in this rant if I understood correctly that MODS are speaking in SMS and telling people off for it. I have never seen this.

I honestly think you're taking a small thing too seriously. Yes, if people use roleplaying WAY too often and treat the regular shoutbox like the RP, then we will intervene. But if it's a couple words (2-5) then it really isn't that big of a deal. Roleplaying more than the desired amount of words will NOT bring a site like this to it's knees; believe me. It's just not that huge. In fact, roleplaying like that on the regular shoutbox is probably the LEAST important rule and the one that doesn't cause too much of a problem or disturbance.

On the subject of SMS language...no one likes it except for those who use it. Personally, I hate it, but I have to deal with it everyday and I don't complain. I can still read it. But again, it really isn't as big of a deal as swearing or spamming are. It can be tolerated to an extent.

And since when do mods speak SMS..?

The only thing I've ever seen with moderators are things such as 'brb' or 'gtg' or 'lol'. Is THAT what you're calling SMS? EVERYONE uses those. Even the most MATURE and CAPABLE members of the site. There's no getting rid of it, and the site will not fall because of it.

Also, EVERYONE, once in a blue moon, says things such as *hugs* or *sighs* or something related. But, since you're so big on rules, that's not more than 2 words, is it, hun?

Every once in awhile, we let small things such as this slide. People have called us unfair for jumping on them for roleplaying one word over the limit. After awhile, I started to agree that it's not fair to just blame people as soon as they make a mistake. I see that's what you want, though. But, like Dan said, we focus on EVERYONE, and not just one person who doesn't like what we're doing.
