I think Global warming is a huge problem. Because of all the cars we drive, look at what we are doing to the earth! There is already a hole in the ozone layer in Africa. Soon the ozone layer will be gone. We are cutting down to many trees, and there isn't enough now to take in all the carbon dixode we are putting into the air. Soon the North pole and south pole, will be gone. I'm not saying in a few days, but many, many, many years from now. The sea level will rise and coatal places like Hawaii, will be in water. The only place we will find polar bears, is in the zoo. Is this not a on going problem?

I donno why I posted this in this particler fourm..

Finally. First off I'm tired of everyone saying that it's our cars doing all the damage when they factor in a small amount of the CO2 in the air.
Most cars now are starting to help the air, the new Porsche Turbo releases cleaner air while in big cities like LA.

Most of the blame falls on Electricity generation by burning fossil fuels. 562 plants like that are opening up in China over the next 8 years.

Even if lets say everyone in The UK were to get a Prius Hybrid CO2 emissions in the UK would go down 0.3%.
On the other hand if all 30,874,000 cars were SUV's with V8s and covered 12,000Km a year Co2 emissions would increase by 10% in the UK or 0.2% worldwide.

Just some facts about how cars are not to blame.

It's carbon dioxide. When you look at how much electricity you use in any given day, you'd be surprised at how much there is. Sometimes you don't realize it because you've been doing it for several years. Everything that runs off electricity puts more and more carbon dioxide in the air. Like l.alone.l said, too many trees are being cut down for the carbon dioxide to be used. This is pretty much all i know about what's causing this to happen. Im guessing when i say this, though i think it's true; Cutting down the rainforest is the worst thing for this planet.

A few things you can do to help slow this down and possibly stop, is unplugging your applances when not using them. Even with them turned off, they remain in a stand-by mode. So they still use up electricity, thus, adding more carbon dioxide to the air. When you unplug them, naturally they have no electricity to power them. You can also save money and help out with this problem by adding insulation to your home so you don't need to use a heater in the colder months of the year as much.
There's several small and simple things you can do but they could help to make a differance. I only know this much because i saw a special on Global Warming on the history channel. Im trying to get a chance to see that movie 'An Inconveniant Truth'

Both interesting points. And I know its not just cars. And I know the new cars are better, but most people cannot afford those fancy cars. Cars are not all to blame, and yes electricity is one of the bigger problems. Oil industries are alot to blame too. A town in Alberta is having there cattle mis-carry beause of the recently built oil mill near by. And thanks for the tips Balto, I will be sure to keep that in mind.

Most of it does come from industry and cars are facing strict emissions and new Fuel alternatives such as Hydrogen, and Ethanol.

The Bush Adminastration ignores this as a problem to them it is not a big deal as least some politicians in Washington relize it

This could be a risky topic.. if people get out of hand.

But anyway, my little sister brought this up with my dad the other day because we have a Range Rover and she said that we're using up too much energy with it and it's because of people like us that we're getting warmer winters.

My dad answered, and I quite agree, that Global Warming isn't really the correct word. A more suitable title would be "Climate Change". We're getting warmer winters because the climate is changing. Of course, we shouldn't waste energy and should invest in low-energy light bulbs and the like but as for taxing and all this green energy stuff.. I say it's all over-reacting.

Why would you say we are over reacting in this problem? I don't care that the winters are warmer, but doesn't it bother you that the ozone layer is disappering?

Well science does say that our earth has gone through times with extreme cold, so whats to say the opposite can't happen.

Also some of it has to do with the sun and how many sunspots there are because it has to do with the Solar wind we get that helps heat our earth up.

Not really.
We just need to be more careful with energy consumption and find more renewable sources of energy.

The Bush Adminastration needs to be thrown away. >.> They haven't ever done something good for everyone. Only 'rich' people that don't NEED anything else.

Anyway... I really wish some people would open their gosh darn eyes to what they are doing to the world! It's rediculous. Some people just need to start thinking about nature and STOP thinking about just themselves.. But that'll never happen. People probably won't realize what they are doing until the hole gets to big to even try and fix..

Anyone heard of "The Little Ice Age"? Believe it or not, about 150 years ago, we were in an ice age and prior to the ice age, we warmed quite a bit, but none of it was caused by humans (pre-Industry Revolution)...I personally believe we do not have enough data to prove that "GW" is human caused. The Earth is constantly rebalancing itself, whether it be storms and tornadoes, hurricanes, or temperature. Do we help along with the warming? yes, but we are not the main cause of it IMHO...as for the ozone layer, we also do not know, as it was discovered recently; we do not have the long term data to prove it disappearing and reappearing is entirely human caused. my $0.02

Bruno, have you ever seen an Inconviant Truth? Al Gore has several charts showing that ever since the Industrial Revolution the temperature has gone up drasticly (much faster than it would naturaly).

Also, if you talk to a vast majority of scientists, you'll find that they aree that Global warming is happening. It's thanks to politicians that there is any doubt that GW is occuring.
My 6.022x10^23 cents

EDIT: If you don't believe me, check out this graph:

See how much it has risen since the Industrial Revolution? (it's even bigger than the "Medieval Warm Period") Hmmm...
