I've had a LOT of people ask 'how do you make a signature???!!'... Well, I will show you how to make a SIMPLE signature, that should be easy for you to understand. We will be making THIS signature :
You MAY make the same one for practice, I do not mind. ;] But before we begin, I would advise you to download the following program. It is 100% free, and this is how I make all of my grahpix. It is called PhotoFiltre, and works amazing wonders. Many of us here, such a Tibb_wolf and Kari, use this program. Click
HERE to download this program. Remember - its free. ;]
Once you have this downloaded, we can continue on! We will start with the beginning picture.
You need to select the picture from the file folder.
Then drag it down to the bar, and push it over to the 'photofiltre' bar.
Once you have done this, PhotoFiltre should pop up, like so.
Then simply drop the picture in there, and then it will pop up so you can edit it.
Note : This is simply how I open files. You may do it the traditional way, by searching through files until you come upon it, and then click 'open'. But I will not be showing it here. I am sure most people know how to open a file that way. ;]
Now, we will start with resizing this a bit. To make it smaller, and more phese-able for us to work with. Now, you can always go back later and resize it, but I perfer to do that first.
Now. We are gonna make it slimmed down around the top and bottom. Make sure to One, have it on the
Selection Tool. Two, make sure it is on the
Rectangle selection.
Then go ahead and select over it. Don't worry about HOW big or small it is for now.
There. Now, we can make it a bit smaller before cropping it. Just simply go to the edges, and pull it up or down to make it bigger or smaller.
Now, you can size it down a little.
Then, you can click on
Image.
And once you have done that, you should see something like this...
Click on
Crop next, to officialize its size now.
Now, it should look
something like this.
Mrumm, I think its a little long. So lets shorten it. Repeat what we just did, except keep the height the same, and change the width. You should get something around this, maybe somewhat different.
Now, we are going to fully resize it. Go to
Image again, and then click on
Image Size.
Then another window should pop up, telling you the current size of it.
Notice how this is to large for the size accepted on the forums. Its simple to change this. First, lets start with the width. Change this to '600' pixels.
Notice how the bottom number is over the limit of 200. We can change that too.
Now it is under the limit. If you want it exactly 600x200 pixels, simply click on the
Preserve aspect Ratio.
This will make it so it wont automatically change when you enter a number. You will have to manually enter each number.
Ex : Width: 600; Height: 200.
Now, we have it set to go under the allowed amount. What next? Hit 'Ok'.
I made it a bit smaller, because thats how I like my sigs. But its up to you. As long as it is under the allowed amount (meaning on any site). So now, this is what we have so far.
No, this is not a lot. But it will get better. ;] But remember - this is very basic and simple.
So now. Lets add an affect to it. Sense this is basic, and simple. Lets just add a blur to it. Click on
Filter.
There are many options to choose from once you click on so. You can look through all these later. We are simply going to blur it. ;]
Now go down to
Visual Effect.
Now, there are a few blur tools. For now, we will be using
Gaussian Blur.
Click on it, and another window will pop up, like so. By default it should be about Six.
Depending on how blurred you want it to be, is how many pixels you will have it. Mess with it a little. Click on
Preview so you don't have to go back and forth.
I would say for this one, lets start with
One pixel.
Click on
Preview. [Not nessicary.]
Now, click
Ok.
Once you have clicked okay, it should look something like this.
Hopefully, you should have been able to get this far without issues.
Now, lets add some text to it to make it more... lively, persay. You need to click on the 'T' up in the menu section.
When you click on that, another window should pop up. It should look like this.
Now, here is the following - I want to explain a little about the text box. Here is a picture of it, with numbers and such around it. Below the picture will be the numbers, with more about it. ;]
[1]Font - choose from the drop down screen the front you want to use.
[2]Size - Pick the size of the font you want to use.
[3]Angle - This is at what angle you want the text to be. Meaning, if you don't want it straight, but at a different angel. (Such as putting 30, or -30, will tilt it to one side, depending on which you choose).
[4]Colour - The colour of the font you are going to use.
[5]Special Effects - Such as Bold or Italic.
[6]Alignment - This isn't really important, sense you can move the text around. But if you want to you can use it. Hence why its 'X'ed.
[7]Erase Text - This is to erase all of the text you have written. Although I never use this, you may. Also why its 'X'ed.
[8]This seems to do nothing - it is not important at all.
[9]Transform to selection - This will make the text non-moveable on your picture. It wont be needed much. I will show you later how to do this the other way. ;]
Now that you know this a little more about the text bar, we can make some text for it. Here is what will be written on it : "
I'm just trying ... To fit in."
Here is our first job. To write the first bit of text, will be
I'm just trying. My font text default is ank.
Now, look through your fonts til you find one you like. You can always change your mind. ;]
Click 'Ok' to view the text. You'll notice that if you drag it up to the corner, it is too dark.
So lets, go back to the text. To do so, right click on the text.
Then, click on
Text Options. It will bring you back to the text panel.
Then, you can change the colour of the font.
Once you have the right colour, you can click
Ok, and then valiate the text so it can no longer be moved. Simply
double-click on the box with the arrow next to it.
Once you have done that, we can move onto the subtext. So far, it should look something like this:
Go back, and do the same as you did for the first set of text. The sub-text can be bigger than the actual text. This is what I did:
Now, we can pick a border to make it more interesting, and less boring. If you don't want a border, you can just skip ahead. Otherwise, follow the next few steps.
Click on
Filter again, and just to be a little more creative... go to
Stylize, and a few other options will pop up next to it.
Once there, go to the option
Progressie Contour...
Click on it, and another window should pop up.
It should be
Twenty by default. But that will be much to large a border for this siggy. So we are gonna tone it down a bit. Say to about
Eight.
Then, before selecting preview, we are going to change it from
Blur to
Diffuse.
You can click on Preview if you want, but its safe to say you can click
Ok. Once you do, then you will have a lovely border, something like this.
Then, all you need to do is add your name in a small place for people to know you made this siggy. (This is not required. ;]) And then, you should have something like this:
And tada. We are done. Hope this helped some of you who seem to not know how to make one. ;]... And as I mentioned before, it was
very simple. If you want to do more, just mess around in PhotoFiltre - after all, thats how most of us did it. ;]...
So until next time,
Toodles~
