The Balto from the first movie had a lot more character i think than the others and showed a lot more courage.

Right, Steet. I think almost everyone would go for the first Balto. I know I do. I don't like the design on the two from the sequels, but the thing that annoys me the most is the voice actor. But I understand that they may never be able to get the original voice cast back together.

For me ,I think I like the one in B1.
In B2:it was not a leading character
In B3,it acted like a dog too much.

B1, he was actually pretty confident and all that good stuff, then became all worry-like in WQ. Then in WoC, he seemed quite depressed and negatory most of the time, even though much of what he was saying was true.

So I go with 1!

I think its because the first one looked better ( he was drawn cooler) and because of the things he did...you also like him better because of how others treated him so you feel sorry for him...at least that's how i feel..
