Do you think so?
I mean; FIRST my mother-in-law-to-be is diagnosed with cancer.
But now my great-grandmother?
I remember when I was little saying; "If Meemaw (what I call her) dies, I'll go bizerk. I wouldn't be able to handle that kind of stress."
Well, she was posted for cancer and I JUST found out this morning when I woke up.
And what? I have to go to school and I CAN'T be at her side to help her. I don't know, but it seems that the more I grow up the farther away from my family I grow. But I love her, and I love my mother-in-law-to-be.
If they died when I need them (i.e. NOW), I don't know what I'd do...
My Meemaw has been there for me for a long, long time. I remember bringing Alligator Snapping Turtles (six of them) home and keeping them for six years... And no matter how hard or how many times they bit her, she STILL let us keep them.
She would support me when I brought home baby rabbits, injured birds, insects, spiders in medicine bottles, tadpoles in mason jars, toads and frogs... She let me keep SO many little critters as my compainions, and help me care for them.
I DO know that nothing can last forever, but can Love?

Love can. But cancer, if its more "common" its probably because there's more PEOPLE. But I think it's just as common as it was, people are just making a bigger deal out of it (like on news and stuff, when they say EVERYTHING causes cancer, they're getting people paranoid about it)

I hate cancer. I lost my papaw to it a few years ago, and yester day was his birthday. I know how you feel about you grandmother. My other papaw, me and him are VERY close. I don't know what I'd do without him. Anyway, I'll be praying for you.

Thanks...
Cat: I can see how people are paranoid about it. Even my COUNSELOR is paranoid about HPV (Human Papaloma Virus that causes Cervical Cancer).
True, there are also more people. But what worries me about this one, is my mother, both sisters, and grandmother ALL had cancer. I'm most likely next in line... My grandmother (Meemaw's daughter) died of cancer...
I don't know. It just worries me.

Well for men most all will get cancer if they live long enough. Men are prone to Prostate Cancer over half of them will get it. It is treatable and they have ways to find it starting at age 40 or 50.
They think my grandfather might have it.

Well, cancer runs in my family too, but it doesn't mean we're all gonna die from it. There ARE survivors of cancer O_o

Yes, I agree with Cat there. The earth's population has grown humongous over the past centuary (in 1928 the world held 2 billion people, now there's around 6 billion people).
Also, because of media and the internet, people are hearing of more cases of cancer than if there were no tvs or computers. And cancer is not contagious to my knowledge, so I doubt everyone in the world'll die from it.
It's not that cancer is becoming more common it's just that with increased news casting technologies, more cases are becoming more well known.

Most of the time if you spot it early they can cure your cancer. My grandmother is going to end up dieing from cancer, that is selfinflicted mind you(Smoking)
Not all cancer is caused by smoking anyway, all cancer is really is a uncontrolled over division of cells.

It's ok On the other side my step mom has had two types of Cancer one was Pancreatic which is a very bad type to get, because alot of people die when they get it and I think the other was cervical.
She is much better now and has gone through so many horrible things like that, she does not have any real hair anymore.

Not so.
True that smoking increases the chances of cancer but there are other elements that play a role. Nutrition, environment qualities, and genetics are examples of those other elements.
