I would love to have a dog of any type, and believe you me, any dog can be dangerous if you train it to be dangerous. That being said, wolf-hybrids are the third most dangerous dogs statistically behind only Pit Bulls and Akitas. Hmm, go figure that.

No matter how much you people like it or not, wolfdogs ARE dangerous, and MORE dangerous than alot of dogs, because of the WOLF in them. Sorry, wolfdogs aren't like Balto.
There is many sweet wolfdogs, but you can't just get a wolfdog and expect it to be the most loyal dog ever. Don't get me wrong - if a person who KNEW what they were doing adopted a wolfdog, then it shouldn't be too bad. The person expects biting, ect. And knows how to train a wolfdog right, and respects their wild side.
Don't come to me, saying how wrong I am - and how sweet your wolfdog is. Sure, there is many sweet wolfdogs, I am sure.
Wolfdogs are NOT FOR EVERYONE, and I think I would be included in that 'Not for everyone' list. I am more of a BC and GSD person anyways.
Wolfdogs aren't 'pets', neither.
However, as a wolfdog matures, you should expect dominate, aggressive and redirected behavior. High or low? That depends on how much wolf is in the dog. Don't forget, wolves are wild animals.
Personally, I don't agree with wolfdogs as pets, at all and I wouldn't adopt one.

My step-gram has one, and he is so sweet. I would like to have a pup of his someday. As for the dangerous part, it mostly depends on how the owner treats it, unless you get a really stubborn one. But, if you get a pup from two that are calm, chances are that you'll get one that will be nice too.

Wait, your saying that if you get a pup from calm parents, that the pup has a high chance that it'll be nice too? That is SO not true. There is NO 'nice' or 'mean' gene. Many people can breed the most un-behaved dogs ever, and get a sweet puppy. It's just no gene for nice or meanness.
Sorry, I know, I know - I am being a know-it-all, aint I? =P Sorry.

You are correct there is no mean gene, BUT, however, the pups get influenced by their mother's behaviour. If the mother is nervous and high strung the pups tend to immitate her, that goes with aggresion and calmness as well.

No, as 'cool' as it would be to own one, if I ever got the chance, I'd have to say no.
First of all, they wouldn't be allowed here unless I had a 6ft fenced yard, kept them on chains at all times and only took them for walks at midnight or later. The laws are very strict here for owning these breeds.
I also don't think I could deal with the people around me complaining to me about them every day, they have a potential for giving every breed of dog that they don't like a bad reputation.
..and last, I don't think it would be fair to the wolf, training shouldn't be much of a problem but I can just picture in my head all the kids that'd throw rocks and such at him. My yard also isn't big enough for a wolf and though I'm sure it wouldn't matter if I could take him for alot of walks, but I also think that they'd need more exersize then another breed of dog. This is also a breed that I could NEVER let off the leash, even at dog parks, so I could guarentee that he wouldn't be getting enough exersize, I'm the only one in my family strong enough and I honestly wouldn't have enough time to walk him 5 times a day. With Kobe it's different, my brother and sister walk her alot and there's neighborhood kids that walk her also..

A hybrid, definetely.
But wolves are wild animals.. not pets. They deserve to be free not kept in a household enviroment
I have little chance of owning a wolfdog whilst I'm in the UK. You have to have a dangerous wild animal license. Despite this, I do hope to one day have something to do with a hybrid.. be it owning one or just meeting one.
