would you clone your deceased pets to produce a puppy identical to your old one? I first heard about this new business in Dog Fancy a long time ago I think it said it costs 16,000 dollars tho. But if it didn't cost that much...

well if you make a clone, it'll never replace the original pet that's in your heart. That's like cloning your deceased children in a way. It'll probably make your heart ache even more :(

No whats the point of that when you want your original pet back especially if you were never able to say good bye

No. I don't think it would be fair to my original pet or the clone. They will never be the same, they're both their unique selves and should be respected like that :)

yeah, I wouldn't want them stuffed either. Maybe cream mated or buried with a cross or a tombstone, jsut like a person.

I'd probably be the only one that would. I still like to have a reminder of my beloved deceased. But I can't replace one baby with one that looks exactly like it. I don't know?

Well, first of all you can't clone a deceased pet. The animal must be alive to be cloned. The dog must be alive and I would never do that to my dog...

Even if my dog was dead I still wouldn't want a clone of her, it still wouldn't be my dog.

they would just need a strand or two of DNA they don't have to be alive but i don't think it would be a good idea .... as i have said before it would be a terrible practice...it would be genetically the same but personallity wise it wouldn't....

Really?XD I've always been told they had to be alive!(My parents told me) Thanks for the tip!

I don't think cloning is wrong, but it should be used in a relevant way. In some areas it is a good idea eg:

The Pyrenean Ibex is a subspecies of Ibex (a kind of mountain goat) that became extinct in 2000 due to overhunting and competiton from domestic goats and sheep. Humans caused their demise. Cloning them (as what scientists are doing) can help undo the mistake of the past. Here, cloning is a good idea, but only as a last resort.

On the other hand:

Take the T-Rex, a prehistoric creature that died out naturally 65 million years ago. Cloning a T-rex would be wrong, because the animal would end up in a zoo in an unnatural environment. For such a huge creature, it would be impossible to meet all its needs, mentally and emotionally.

You could clone your pet if you wanted to, but what would be the point?
It wouldn't extend your pet's lifespan in any way, because the clone isn't actually the same exact animal. The clone would not have your pet's personality, it would have a mind of its own. The only similarity is the DNA and the fact that it looks just like the original animal.

So, in conclusion, cloning is fine so long as it is used sparingly and relevantly and the act of doing so does not hurt or harm the clone.

No. As much as I love my dog and my dad's dog it wouldn't be natural to clone them. People have to accept that their pet, or at least his soul, has moved on.
