Hey artists. There is a person on MySpace who has been stealing artwork from various artists here...including the great Katikut. I thought you'd all want to see who it is. He's kept his profile private, in order to make viewing difficult (and catching him difficult), but he's still pretty dumb in using some of those stolen (AND altered) images for his own.

He goes by the name "kouga", and might well also be a member here (although under another name). When I confronted him on art theft, he got pretty nasty and defensive, and clearly doesn't give a *****.

Go get him, people! He deserves whatever you can throw at him!

Here's another one. And it looks already like at least one other person (another MySpace member, some guy with a Balto profile) confronted her. Man, is art theft REALLY that bad on MySpace? This one has at least one of Katikut's works too. And it's been altered. Jesus. Though unfortunately it's not the avatar. She's altered a screen cap for that.

Here we go again People, we KNOW that people on MySpace are taking and using work without permission. We've been through this and there was a big ol' war about it and it never got solved. The most you can do is politely ask them to either remove it or give the original artist credit, but it won't work because they're too narrow-minded.

I may be misinterpreting things in the rant folder (and here), but it appears my posting this topic has ruffled some feathers. I guess it's a mistake to be new and not realize that such topics have been discussed before. I wasn't talking in general about art theft. I was pointing to two specific people who are doing it.

However, since people are being that fussy about it, I'd now ask that a moderator lock this. I really don't want any trouble, and didn't expect the kind of reaction this is apparently causing.

(I'm learning fast that it's not a new member's place to have an opinion, or even to try and help out. It's to keep their mouth shut and just let the more experienced members talk and talk and talk. And then nod and go "Wow! How enlightening! I never realized how little I knew!" Feh. )

I'm sorry you think that, but it's not true. Saying, and accusing those things will only get you in more trouble. All members on this site are allowed to state their opinions or suggestions. If you mean about your topic here, it's just that it's just been talked about alot so some members might find it annoying, or old news. To me it was a plus since you helped me find one more thief. I'm trying to find them on myspace, send them messages first, then if they don't change, get them kicked off the site or talked to by the site managers/staff. If you find anymore other than the two you posted here, please PM them to me. I know you're just trying to help, and i'm sure others know it too.

I know what it's like as well to have art stolen. Mine was being so on myspace for a good time a while ago. Some of it still probably is, but it's amlost impossible to find it all on the vast www that is the internet today.

Well, man, what do I really care about getting in trouble? I'm not really on that much that I should have been. In fact, I don't know what you mean by "more trouble", since I don't know that I've been in any yet. Though, I have to tell you (as I said in response to WhiteWolf in his rant topic), in the short time I've been a member, I've seen a few people jump down my throat for things that surely didn't warrant it. And that's left a very bad taste in my mouth. And it may be an unpopular thing to say, but I HAVE noticed that newer members are often castigated for having an opinion, whereas older members don't seem to elicit that sort of reaction. That doesn't seem very fair to me. Sure, there are a lot of new people with very odd and irrelevant opinions here (and, it would seem, some older ones too). And yet there are still some newer members who have posted some pretty sensible things. To be fair, some of them are lauded for saying what they say. But not always. Not from where I'm standing.

Now, enough of that.

As to the second one, she too has some of Katikut's stuff. I've seen it on her page. And when I confronted her on it, I got aggression back, and claims that it's ALL hers. I like Katikut's work. I think she's a first-rate artist. And I have reported both of those idiots to MySpace for stealing her work. But someone should let Katikut know, however that can be done. I'm sure she'd appreciate it.

With that, I won't belabor this topic. I've said what I came to say. What had to be said here was fallout. I've already made my peace with WhiteWolf for what was a misunderstanding. It'd sure be nice if that happened with the few other hotheads I ran into in my short time here. But I guess you can't expect too much.

Either way, if I've had such a negative experience in so short a time, I don't plan to participate much. It's definitely not worth the frustration.
