Hi everyone.
I need some help drawing wolves at a frontal prospective (or Point of View).

I just have a lot of trouble making it look like their muzzles actually come outward, and they turn out more like long-legged, hideous felines (which I do not appreciate at all).

I'm also tiring of drawing them facing to the left, and I want it to look like the wolf/creature is actually staring at you.

So if you know any good methods or art site links that can help me, please let me know because I really wanna accomplish this!

I need practice with that angle too. I suggest looking at some pictures of wolves in that angle, practicing it, and developing your style afterwards. That's what I do. As for the left side view, do you mean a profile shot?

This is the last I will post from J.C Amberlyn's book, "Drawing Wildlife".

I would suggest buying it, a wonderful drawing book.

Image

I dunno how much can I help...but I will give ashot..
You always have to draw the "axe of simetry"..beccause it's a frontal view, and you have to get the left side and right at a same size/proportion,like...you can't make the right eye bigger than the left XD...This axe helps a lot...It's also called "guide lines"....

Small particle which I hope it helps.. But Drew's pic is really helpfull :)

Thanks, Drew. I'll keep an eye out for it next time I go to Walden's (local book store) or Wal*Mart (they have [almost] everything XD) or somewhere.

As for everyone else, I thank yous too.

DENI: I really don't like doing that, it's mainly the muzzle and ear poses I have trouble with.

As for the P.O.V., this is what I'm talking about:

I can angle the head a LITTLE, but I never show the other eye (because that's where I tend to mess up the most).
This is the angle I [usually] attempt...

No offense, but if they came out looking like hideous cats, I've obviously ALREADY TRIED.

Practice until they don't come out looking like cats. Every artists has to practice and ungodly amount to improve. Suddenly having a few references will not help unless you practice.
