This has happened many times in the past and I'm not just picking on one person, but a particular group of people. Those who complain about the amount of comments they receive (or don't receive) from others. I KNOW I'm not the only one who hates this with a fiery passion. Everywhere you go, you see SOMEONE complaining about "how hard" the effort someone put into a drawing and how "little credit" they receive for it. Now...this can be understandable if:

1) You're an active or "old" member or

2) You're a good author/artist or

3) You've done your part on commenting on others' work.

But what *I* see is a bunch of n00bs complaining that they're not popular in some way, shape or form. How can someone just starting out on THINKING expect to get anywhere, let ALONE right away?? These people cover those who:

1) Are just starting out on drawing/writing or

2) Are terrible (this doesn't mean they can't improve) at drawing/writing or

3) Never comment on anyone else's work.

And they STILL expect to be treated like royalty! Why do they do this? I don't know, and quite frankly I don't care, it's just annoying and selfish! If you want to get "popular" you need to do some work! Look for ways to improve! Comment on others' stuff! Advertise on the forums! I don't care! Just stop whining! You're not going to earn friends from whining and you sure as heck aren't going to get popular! You're just going to make people not like you! THEN where will you be on getting your "hard earned" fame? We "popular" people didn't just sit around scratching ourselves waiting to get noticed! We got out there and MADE ourselves known and if you think you have any right to complain you better do it too!

TELL ME I'm not the only one who thinks this -_-

To add, we "popular" artists started out drawing terribly too, if that makes you "feel any better"

EDITED: This thing goes along with those who don't have enough "FAVS" either

I agree with you 100%. I hate those kind of people who give no respect to others, but complain when they get none at all. -__- Hmph..

My art is horrible, I'm not surprised people hardly comment, do I complain? No. If I get a comment, I get a comment. I'm happy with what I get. <3

Amen, Cat... Although I at least like to know people at least looked at or read my art or fanfics, I don't expect comments.

PFAHAHA XD

No you aren't the only one who thinks this.I wanted to say the same things,If you make a perfect thing you can't expect to become "popular" or "varied known" artist\writer in one single day ! It takes TIME and for that you need patience and lots of confidence.

I honestly don't like popularity(myself)...I don't like if people claim me as God or others...We are all normal people :) like all others.

And I don't walk on red carpet ;D So...I can be really understandable.

*ahem* according to Cat's another successfull rant,I have to agree with it.

I TOTALLY appreciate comments, and critiques ,because they are helping me to fix my mistake and never repeat it..trust me :) I lived with this and I still do.

Well...I suppose these people don't really know how things go in this world. To get people interested, you need to either : do something special, or promote your work heavily. I suppose the whining ones think that, if a fanfic author get so many comments and praise, then why can't I try making fanfics and get the same result? Unfortunately it's more complex than that...

And I suspect them to not be objective, because as you said, most of the time, the whining visitors are the ones with the worst creations. They probably have difficulties to admit that their work is worse than the ones they admire.

Omg! You beat me to the rant Cat!XD Anyway, yes that is too true. I don't understand why people are obsessed with that. If they're patient one day they will be known. But, does it matter? It's not a popularity contest...

Exactly. If this topic should be about anything, it should really be about how people WHINE about how they don't get enough comments, and just want to be popular on the site.

Somebody should make a topic about that..

Also, if your one of those to complain & are just starting out, don't write 50 page stories, nobody really wants to read them & your just wasting your time writing them because not many people will comment. Start with 1 or 2 pages and once you feel you have enough comments you can gradually start making them longer.

I don't agree with this...I am, on the contrary, more interested in long fanfics rather than 1 page fanfics. And if you look at the artists which have the most favorites, they mostly have long fanfics.
Of course, I think that if some visitors write 1/2 pages fanfics, that's because they don't write often, and it's already difficult for them.

Ok, well that's your opinion...But still, look at the fanfics from the most popular authors...
I'm not saying that making the longest fanfics is always better, but a 50 pages story surely have more content than a 1 page.

BTW, maybe I should make a rule for poems, because seeing 5-lines poems does annoy me a bit...They should at least put several poems together, in this case...

I know but obviously if their complaining about getting no comments, then that's all they care about and their wasting their time writing.

I like longer fanfics too, but since a majority of the members are 12 and under, they probably don't want to read much more then 5-6 pages at the most.

HAZZAH!... Cat has got the rant going. I wish I had noticed sooner.

Rawr. People who COMPLAIN about how they don't get enough comments is ANNOYING. Its even more annoying when something like this happens:

Annoying little Noobs.

I LOVE that picture. Its ammmmazing. [Art by Luckywolf]. I mean, when someone comes to your gallery and is all like "YOUR ART IS AMAZING! I LOVE IT!".. And then they ask you to visit theirs. True, at least they are commenting people. But I wouldn't ask people to look at it. Not like that. I find that incredibly rude.

If you want to be reconized, work hard, do things right, and eventually someone is bound to notice your hard work. But it doesn't make people want to comment you if you whine about it.

Cat, I must agree with you.

I have no problem with my comments. Simply because I usually get commented whilst I'm within a Shout Box or in a Role Play (and I hate those people who take fan-dom-ism [is that a word?] to an un-needed level
Example: OMG OMG IT'S __________!!! OMG i LOOOOOOOOOOOVVEEE YOUR WORK!")

Though I am disappointed when I don't get comments, I'm quickly over it (because my fan fic only has like, three comments. XD)...

Though, I have turned about people like that, and one with (I beleive) you around. Something about someone didn't comment BACK and he/she that was the "non-commented-back-victim" started a bunch of BS about it...

This overly long post was simply to say; I agree....
Though, I also made my points behind my ethics (I think).
