Another lovely complaint about not getting enough comments  You have to EARN your recognition, you're not gonna get it like that. Popular writers are here for a long time before people even NOTICE they write and write WELL for that matter. So you best stop your whining while you're ahead.

I'll tell you something, complaining WONT make people want to read them, infact, it drives them away. It's annoying and immature. If you want people to read your fanfics, politely ask them.

There are tons of fanfics on here, so of course it takes a long time to get noticed. Not everything get's instant succes. "Good things come to those who wait."
I reccomend you wait and ask some people to read politely (as Person stated) and I'm sure you'll find that some people'll read them.

Well there are a lot of new fanfics sent on the site everyday...I understand that it's not easy to get recognition. I don't know if there would be any way to help the new authors. There is already a list of the last fanfics sent on the site.
Cat, could you try to be less agressive when you reply? It's not helping them to understand, but the opposite.

Well, it makes sense. You haven't been on the site that long. Nobody knew you were even writing until you posted here. Give it some time. I've been here for about a year or over and still almost no comments in my fanfic gallerie. Also, does it REALLY matter? It's not the amount of comments you get, it isn't a contest. If you really want people to notice your fanfics a little more you COULD put a link to your gallerie in your signature...

You should try advertising lol. Draw pictures from your fic, maybe ask others to help you and get others' attention. Politely asking usually works too. ;)

That’s a good idea, try putting links in your signature then others will notice and if interested click on them.

Also not all people like reading the same things certain people like romance whilst others don't like that and prefer character development if you understand what I mean. You can’t force others to read your fan-fics but by asking politely if they could have a quick glance of it is a much better approach then telling to do something they don’t want to. So ask politely for them to read it don't tell them to or else they'll be driven away instead.

Hope that helps :)

I must agree with catwhohad14tails.

I'm not renowned, nor am I famous in the fan fiction world.

however, I feel that if you have at least one fan who is willing to read your fic, then you did your job.

Don't write a fic expecting to get uber amounts of posts going

[exaggeration and sarcasm] Om my gawd, that story was so emotionally spine-tingling! I want to sign you to our publisher. [/exaggeration and sarcasm]

Now, that was an exaggeration of what could happen, but my point stands.

If no one reads your fiction, don't start pouting and complaigning. It's not the end of the world.

hell, I think half of my fics are still in the Fiction forum here on Balto Source, and they've gotten maybe a total of twenty posts altogether.

I hate to sound rude, but that's life. You play with the cards you're dealt with.

Pssst...wanna know the secret to getting a little recognition? XD

...Don't want it. ^^ Yup, reverse psychology, right here, baby!! First off, since you're new to writing here's how I'D do it its much, MuCh, MUCH better to just write for yourself. Start with litthe 5-paged short stories, and gradually, you will get better.

Sned your fanfics onto the site just for the sake of sending them. It's going to be a long and grueling wait if you check your space constantly for new comments. And even if you do get some, the joy of reading them only lasts for a few seconds. XD

Just keep writing to get better; people can't tell you that you're improving -- you have to decide that for yourself. As your stories grow more complex, I assure you that it will get more attention. ^^ Some words to the wise: People don't want to spend eons reading a story. XD They want to read it and finish it (ideally) in a single hour.

To sum it up, write for your own sake of getting better, and not for the sake of getting a few comments. Start small, then grow bigger.

...But that's just me. :D

You do not write stories for the glory. You write them for the sake of writing. For making people enjoy themselves. For people to get away from the real world for a while, enduding themselves in the story. People who write for the glory of it, don't write good stories.

I love to write. I just get to many ideas at once. Never finish things. But when I do, I post it. I have Six or so fan fics. I could have more if the ideas didn't hit me so quickly.

My stories are my ideas. Its how I get rid of stress, and other things. If I did not write, I would be very stressed with emotions. But, I put it into my stories.

If you want to be noticed, write a good story. Someone is bound to notice it. Eventually.

Not everyone gets noticed so quickly.

steet, really, does whining deserve any slack? No. This isn't even a rant, this is whining. A rant is about the subject "you" or "them" not "me" or "I" (the latter being what this topic is exactly about) A rant would be like "This fanfic system is too confusing! Its hard for people to understand!" not "Nobody's reading MY fanfics! Everyone else is gettin more comments than ME!" It shouldn't even be here because it sounds exactly like whining to me. Know what I mean?

And like Maya said, you don't write stories for attention. It doesn't work. I know people who draw just so they get comments in their gallery and they don't get "enough" attention (sarcasm) and it works the same way for fanfics. If you're going to be doing anything artistic, whether it be drawing or writing, you CANNOT be selfish about it and expect to be "popular."

Exactly. If this topic should be about anything, it should really be about how people WHINE about how they don't get enough comments, and just want to be popular on the site.
